Meguiar's Hand Polish vs. Mother's Glaze

Help me decide which one to choose....I'm going to a show this weekend. The car is already polished with fine cut cleaner and swirl remover. I just need to top it off with glaze and then wax with s100.....Which one is recommended? I'm going to buy it this afternoon, so please help me decide..... :bow



btw, the car is a metallic black Audi A4 (clear coated paint)

I have used both products and prefer Megs Hand Polish. Both are easy to apply and remove. The Mothers product contains kerosene. The Megs polish is "paintable" and I have used it successfully under Platinum UPP.



Both are excellent glazes, and by the ounce about the same price.
 
Haven't used megs hand polish, but so far mother's is my favorite glaze. Much easier to use than IHG or #7 and similar results.



I had no idea it had kerosene in it (is it listed in the ingredients)? Is that harmfull?

Kerosene is in a cleaner ingredient in a lot of the polishes. That's what gives it the solvent smell. I guess that's Mother's S/G removes Klasse.

Gadfly, can you tell me what you mean when you say that you were able to apply it under Platinum UPP? Is there any reason why one would not be able to apply it under Platinum? Don't mean to challenge your post or anything....just feeling curious. :)
 
I guess the assumption is that since Platinum is a polymer, that you cannot apply a glaze under it. But after some research, I tried #7 under Platinum and it worked great. The durability is still in question, as I have not checked on how well it's lasting yet, but it's been about 4 weeks.
 
r, I would go with the Hand Polish(M-8132). It is easier to use than #7, and the results are similiar. #32 seems to "Dry"(Easier to wipe off) more than #7. #7 was made for a single stage paint(softer) that would absorb the oils. IMO, #7 lays on top(not really bonding or being absorbed) of a 2 stage paint job. #32 seems to bond /be absorbed on a 2 stage paint job. I have applied #32 three times(layered) and noticed the paint looking better and better with each coat. I use a foam applicator, dime size blurb, and rub it in, till it's almost gone, on a 2' X 2' area. A light dusting with a Canon, 100% USA Cotton, White Terry Cloth, Towel, and it's time for the next step.
 
I wouldn't worry about the kerosene in the Mothers glaze, personally. If it's not kerosene then they are using some other kind of petroleum product as a solvent. Same idea.



By the way, newer bottles of Mothers products don't say they contain kerosene. Does anyone know if they have stopped using it then (they don't smell like kerosene) or have just stopped listing it?
 
All of these types of product contain some sort of petroleum distillate.



Sealer and Glaze is a "paintable" product as well (which simply means it will be removed by any standard paint prep like PrepSol), and can be safely used in a body shop environment without any adverse effect.
