Meguiars Final Inspection - highly regarded here?

Isn't this product the most highly regarded QD of the OTC line? Would I be better off with something like Quikshine or Poorboy's?

My intended use is cleaning wood trim, bird bombs, and dust on interior, etc.

Can I find Meg's FI OTC? (it seems to be part of their 'professional line', which most places won't carry I am assuming.)

Thank you in advance.

I really like Final Inspection, but it lends itself to cleaning more than appearance enhancement.

It can usually be found locally through paint and body supply stores.

It is more than likely a stock item in 16oz at NAPA. They can order a gallon and usually have it the next day.

I've used Final Inspection when I have used polishes that dust, in order to get rid of the dust before the next step.

It might work for what you want it to do. There are "cleaner" QDs, and there are "gloss" QDs. Final Inspection is definitely a "cleaner" QD, so it may do what you are looking for, and it is easily avilable (NAPA). Finish Kare 425 comes to mind as a gloss QD.

Like Hey, Moe! said, it works well as a QD used between polishing steps to get rid of residue. For a balanced QD between cleaning and adding some gloss, I like Quickshine. I think 425 is my overall favorite though. Nothing wrong with FI however. It's a solid cleaner.

last touch give hi gloss but implify the scratch... im looking for qd cleaner like 34

ithink 34 more quality and friendly in paint

Bence,

I just saw your sig with the correct way to pronouce Klasse. My next door neighbor is from Germany and he loves this stuff so much that he wants to bathe in it. He says it means Great in German.

I use Meguiar's Last Touch Spray Detailer. "It produces incredible depth, shine and gloss. This spray-on, wipe-off product has a unique blend of polymeric lubricating agents that gently removes dust, fingerprints, smudges and other contaminants, leaving a flawless, showroom shine." Good stuff

If I remember correctly Final Inspection has a small alcohol content which can degrade LSP performance.

Anyone else remember reading this?

I've found FI to be a great cleaner, but as stated, it doesn't leave near as much shine as other QD's. E1, TW Platinum and Mothers have been good OTC gloss enhancers for me.

Yup, he's right. :D

You might've stumbled across one of my older threads. I always suspected that it contained alcohol, but Mike Phillips (of meguiar's) took me to task for saying that. He tried to differentiate between "alcohol" and whatever's actually in #34, but the difference struck me as more a matter of terminologly/semantics than anything else- a splitting of hairs that would only make sense to somebody who stayed awake during their college chem courses :o Sorry, but I don't remember the specific details.

So...NO it doesn't contain "alcohol" but something in it (I suspect the avaporative carrier)*can* strip/degrade an almost-already-dead LSP. NO problem on a remotely healthy one, but if it's nearly dead the #34 will finish it off whereas other QDs will do the opposite and help it hang on.

I too use it to remove polish residue when buffing, absolutely *love* it for that and I buy it by the gallon. I also use it to gently clean lightly soiled surfaces, especially fragile ones (including antiques and other household-type things). But for imparting gloss and slickness, IMO there are a lot of better choices.

Doesn't really give a great gloss, and overall I prefer Last Touch as it is dilutable and costs less. Good as a clay lube and light cleaning(however I never use a QD on an even lightly dusty panel), but if you are looking for an awesome gloss QD, then I would reccomend FK #425. I love that stuff.
