Meguiars and Klasse

Actually AIO is a topper... and a cleaner. Just not a real durable topper (contrary to what it says on the label :D ). Anyhow, I agree that the AIO will probably remove just about anything underneath it.

And don't use SG over those products unless you do use AIO first.

So AIO is intended as a combination cleaner, polish, and limited sealer intended to be the first product used? Are the SSR polishes also removed by the product? I would assume after a PC with SSR2.5 and SSR1, applying the AIO would act as sort of a final polishing agent. Also, any product polish that contain fillers would also be removed with AIO. How about UPP? Over polishes or is it a stripper cleaner also?

Sort of...

AIO is an "all-in-one" product... hence the name. However, it has little if any polishing ability (abrasive type polishing), but it does clean and leave behind a small amount of acrylic protection.

The SSR polishes have no fillers, and leave very little... if anything behind. So yes, AIO will clean up anything that "might" be left behind by the SSR polishes.

I wouldn't call AIO a final polish... more of a foundation product for Super Glaze... as that it what it was made to used with. Other people use it for a foundation for other products... mostly polymers (synthetics).

AIO should be able to clean up most products with oils and other fillers... like some of the Meguiar's products you mentioned. That's it's major function.

UPP is a LSP (last step product - provides protection). It has no cleaning ability (or very, very, very little). It will not "strip" anything.

Hope this helps.

Not getting on your case at all, but do some more reading and ask some more questions before you start buying a bunch of stuff that doesn't do the job for you.

You might want to look at this.

When I said it wasn't a topper I mean it's not ment to be used to top another product with. The cleaners in AIO will remove any product on the surface. It can be used as a one step but thats different than a topper.

OMG, no problem I won't take any offense. Many of these products I have had in the cabinet already. No pro here, just a weekender and trying to perfect the art since I discovered this forum and great information resource.

So with respect to UPP being (last step product), I could safely top any polish, glaze, or wax with this product? I suppose it boils down to what expectations and durability range, vech color, and maintainence intervals when deciding on what products for what applications. (There are a lot). I like to try several products with Megs being one of my all time favs because of the replenishment of oils to the paint and wet look. Any product I choose for this Midnight Blue vech will have to safely leave that very critical step in place. It's difficult deceiding on synthetic or carnuba waxes. Carnubas, regardless of brand just don't hold up any longer than 6 weeks on any of my cars. So how is this:

Wash
Clay
Wash
Megs #7 or #9
UPP
Wax top (optional)

IMO, UPP over Meg's #7 or #9 would be a mistake for just the reason you like them. The oils they contain would probably not let the UPP bond correctly, thus seriously compromising its durability.
My experience with UPP is that if it is applied to clean, (read no oils or wax), paint it will last at least 4 months. Over #7 or #9, I doubt that it would be any better than a carnauba wax. :dunno

If you are determined to use the two Meg's products you list, you probably need to use a Meg's sealant for true compatability. Their #20 and #21 are two that come to mind. NXT Tech Wax would probably work, but I didn't feel it was any longer lasting than a carnauba wax when I used it for several months.

Good point! :bigups

Got it! What is your reccomendation for replacing the Megs polishes with something more compatable, (SSR1,2.5? other) then applying UPP. As you have mentioned, the UPP application needs a correctly prepared base, to ensure complete bonding. I know an application of AIO, then UPP works, but what polish?

If you need to remove swirls that are anything other than very minor, you can use the SSR2.5, follow it with SSR1, finish with UPP.
If you have minor swirls, SSR1 should take care of them and the UPP could follow right after the SSR1. I would use AIO after the SSR1, but it really isn't necessary. In fact several members prefer the look of SSR1 followed with UPP. I just really like AIO for my prep.
If you don't have swirls, the AIO followed with UPP would work great.
So would 4 Star UPC for a lot less money.
What products do you have right now? You may only need a paint cleaner to use after the Meg's #9 and not need to buy a bunch more stuff.
Remove swirls: Meg's #9
Clean paint: UPC or AIO or SSR1
LSP: UPP
Topper: I would skip this and just do another application of UPP.
Then do just the UPP again in a month or two.
