Meguiars # 82 SFP...

Clean Dean

Keep it clean !!!
I have received numerous e-mail from detailers and enthusiast that claim that they do not get great results with Meguiars #80 and #82. I believe that the reasons that they do not get the results they want are because of 2 reasons.

1. They are simply not working the product enough.
2. The use of these products are more geared for the rotary as opposed to a cyclo or a PC (I state this because I have used these products with all 3 tools ). I do believe that results can be acheived with a cyclo or PC, but it will take a tremendous amount of time and effort to level the surface with these tools.

Here is an example of swirl free polish used on a 1997 Metalic Blue BMW 740I. I worked #82 for approximately 3-5 minutes on a 2.5 X2.5' sections with an Edge Green Pad and the rotary set at 1500 rpms.

hmmm... i need to get my hands on that stuff. We could have used that today on that VW. Instead we used #9 with my pc. and waxed over that.

I have also gotten better results with a rotory instead of using the pc. Of course the PC will do a good job if you have minor marring, swirls. When running with a rotory, I like to usually run it with speed about 1200 to 1400 though. Pics look great and great info.

Looks great Dean! (surprise, surprise:))

FWIW, your results with the #82 will probaly be pretty close to what you got with the #9, since you are using a PC.
The PC is great for us amateurs, but if you watch an expert use a rotary, you will find it hard to believe what they can do.
I use the PC with good results on my own vehicles, but they are in pretty good shape to start with. After watching a Pro with a rotary, I almost feel like the PC is a toy and the rotary is a tool.
And yes, I have used a rotary. That's why I use a PC now.:D
