meguiar's #7 and ppcl/p21s pcl?

I have a question about these p21s paint cleanser, the meguiars #7 show car glaze, and the pinnacle paint cleanser...



Does the meguiar's product compare to the other 2? I know that PPCL and the p21s are similair but does the #7 also compare? If not, what does the #7 do and would it work combined with the PPCL or p21s paint cleanser?



I know that they both go on before wax, but would it help to do paint cleanser then #7? Also, where does #3 fit into this since I have read that it is supposed to replace the #7? Thanks for any help...

#7 is a pure glaze used for shine and gloss with no cleaning properties like the P21S and Pinnacle cleansers. So, Meguiar's #7 is a tad different from the others. If you want to use both products, use the P21S GEPC or PPCL paint cleanser first, then the #7, then apply your favorite wax...

Absolutely! In fact, for the best shine possible with carnauba, it's recommended to use a glaze before the coat of wax. The cleanser will help further clean the surface, remove light swirls, and improve gloss. The glaze will definitely add wetness and gloss before your coat of wax.

"A lot" is relative :) If you have a newer vehicle, why not just try the PPCL or gepc, followed by your favorite wax. If it's not what you like, you can always go back and add in the #7 step the next time you do a more in involved detail. I did my 2002 F150 with gepc and p21s carnauba, and it looks great (my opinion, of course). Did my wife's 98 Mustang with a Meguiar's cleaner (I had some of the step 1 cleaner hanging around) that has some polish to it, but it really didn't shine to my liking until I used a polish (I used Meguiar's body shop professional hand polish). Get yourself some gepc/ppcl, #7, and a good wax, and experiment to see what works best for your vehicle.

Although P21S PCL and PPCL are labeled as paint cleansers, they both do a fantastic job in shining up your paint. After a single application of P21S PCL, I was very impressed with how slick and shiny my paint was. As for using #7 after the PCL (actually I used Meguiar's Hand Polish, which is almost the same) it was hard to notice much of a difference. Maybe a little bit of shine was added, but certainly not enough to justify the amount of effort it takes to apply a coat of the glaze. The amount of effort required to apply P21S and PPCL do not even come NEAR the amount of effort required with Meguiar's glazes.



I would follow ernie's advice and do a little experimenting. Try the cleanser followed by a high quality wax and see if you like it. If you are going to use a cleaner like meguiar's Step 1 (which contains more cleaners than polish), then a glaze step would certainly be beneficial. There's no one correct way to do it. My car didn't benefit from using both prep products so I only plan to use one or the other, but who knows.....your car might very well benefit greatly from using both. Let us know how it goes.
