meguiar's #40 vinyl/rubber

I don't know about you guy's but this stuff

looks and smells just like Armor All ( low shine).

What do you guy's think?

Prior to other products, I used this quite often. Now there are products for each type of rubber or vinyl, I just use it for engine detail, but have to wipe it dry as it picks up everything.

It was great for interior and trim, but now with all these products specific to each one, I really do not use it that much anymore.

I use 303 Protectant for dash that's exposed to sun, and to dress engine bay. Engine Kote used for weel wells and undercarriage, Einszett for leather, MSLT for tires etc.

Not really an Armor-All type product, #40 is way better than that stuff.

Find a use for it.

Deanski,

Is the 303 Protectant for the dash a gloss or matt finish.

Hard to find most of those products up here in Canada,

unless we order from U.S.A

Unfortunatly, 303 gives off a somewhat gloss finish. However, I just like the fact that so many companies use it as a UV deterrent.

Since I have a SC430, and the dash top is black, I had to go with 303.

I think your gonna be hard pressed to find a protectant with more of a matte finish than 303. 303 is about as matte as they come. If you apply it, then buff it down, I would say it darkens it more than it gloss's it.

imo

I've found that 303 gives a matte finish on hard plastic, but comes out a bit glossier on softer vinyls. Hard to figure that one out.

As far as finding it in Canada, just take a trip to Zellers. $14.95 CDN for 16oz. Not a bad price for 303, but still awful high compared to all other protectants. (Personally I like MeGuiars #40 for $11.99 better. Its more versatile for exteriors and tires too.)

(Keep an eye on Home Hardware, they sometimes sell #40 for $7.99 for 16 oz bottles!!!!!)

AH, so that's what I forgot to do! Wipe it after applying it.

All I did was wipe it on with a cotton/foam pad all over the dash and I did wipe a little after, but not right away as I wanted it to soak in a little on the dash area.

Well, it's not Armor-All glossy, but it did bring out the black on the dash really well. Who knows, maybe it shoud look like that, as it was never treated when I picked it up from the dealer and since it sat outside all that time prior to delivery, I'm sure some of the dash had some type of UV impact. I'll take some pics of it.

Meguiar's #40 has become my dressing of choice! I now buy it in gallons! It is also FAR BETTER than Armor-All!! I find that it attracts less dust than 303, and if wiped down, you get a nice satin finish. ( I just came back from a very dusty fishing trip. In MHO, I had less dust attraction with the #40 than when I used 303 previously)

Don't get me wrong, 303 is a great product which I used for a lot of years. But, I now prefer #40.

As to wiping down 303, you have to dry it completely. The instructions on the back clearly state: "Spray on, wipe completely dry with clean, absorbent cloth". This topic has been discussed before with even a quoted response from 303 themselves.

Either Meguiar's #40 or 303 are readily available in Canada.

Cheers!

Tim
