I dont know what is going on,but meguairs is letting me down. The vehicle was a fairly new paint job that had bad defects left from wetsanding on the paint. I tried a high speed with meguairs dacp, number 85 and number 84. They all did just about nothing, so i switched to klasse with a orange pad. It took out the defect with a few passes and just light swirls were left that can be easily taken out. The owner was pleases at the results and hired me to come and do his other camero as well before he sells it.. I dont understand why the meguairs wouldnt cut through the defect.

I was buffing it till clear and almost dry, i know how to use a high speed, the paint was cool and clean.. Bascially everything was right abot the working situation, the product would just not produce results.

The all in one working wonders on the paint. I followed all the right procedures as well when trying all the meguairs stuff, it just wouldnt cut it. The AIO made magic happen on the paint, and within 1 pass or so, the major defect was gone!

AIO is a CLEANER with very little abrasive if any. I don't understand this. #84 and 85 are VERY powerful compounds. These are products that are on the opposite ends of the spectrum.

Your telling me, that is exactly how come i went right for those products! I seriously dont think im doing anything wrong, becuase i used those products the other day after i wet sanded a vehicle myself and they worked wonders! Ill take pictures when i do the whole vehicle, but till then keep those ideas flowing in. Also I was using a semi aggressive pad, made for products such as dacp and the pads were cleaned and primed.

sounds like you didn't work it in hard enough. You should be putting on DACP at about 5-6 and pushing down to the point right before the machine starts to bog.

Hi, HotRodGuy.

You should be putting on DACP at about 5-6 and pushing down to the point right before the machine starts to bog

My experience with pushing down till the machine bogs, is that the backing starts breaking loose. What pads do you use that hold up?

Thanks

That kind of pressure will lead to premature pad failure. I have learned that medium pressure on speed 6 will work just as well.

could it be that the combination of the heavy abravsives of 84 and 85 matched with a course pad were leaving buffing traces and that was what u were seeing,

If that was the case it could explain why

1. The heavy abrasives were not taking the maring out

2. using a cutting pad and non-abrasive cleaner fixed the maring. The AIO would of worked as a lubricant more than an abrasive and the courseness (if thats a word) of the pad was doing all the work.

Because of all the different paint finishes we detailers have to deal with sometimes we have to think outside the square.

Glad that it worked out, even beter is that lined up another job from it

Tony.
