Meguairs Gold Coat over NXT

I put a coat of GC paste on top of the NXT I did yesterday. The NXT appeared to have sufficiently hardened. I did half of the hood first to have a look. Up close, the shine was a bit better. Step back however, and I about fell out! The difference was not subtle. The depth of the shine was demonstrable. The GC shine was nothing short of amazing. The efficacy of layering was resloved for me, at least with NXT and GC. The NXT shine was solid - having an 'industrial' look - strong was the word. The GC however is simply spectacular - eye dazzling - the feel is slick and the look is wet. (I'm going to have to get my camera issues straightened out to take pictures). Frankly, I am stunned. The GC went on top of the NXT with ease. No hard rubbing, just a good smooth coat with the included foam applicator. I took the wax off with a Megauiar's MF and after the wax was off I then went old school with cheese cloth to get a 'feel' for the finish. Slick is the operative word here. Standing back, the car looks wet, like a pool of water, the quality silver seems to impart when done right.

In conclusion, it appears the NXT provided a rock-solid hard base for the softer carnuba wax which was my hope. Wow....

Both GC and NXT have cleaners in them. I wouldn't be surprised if you removed most, if not all, of the NXT when you applied the GC. I once "layered" the two as well, but realized that I likely removed one and applied the other b/c the durability was horrible - less than one month and two washes.

GC looks outstanding on many paint finishes, but it requires frequent reapplication...I think Souveran gives the stuff a run for its money in durability. :shocked

:lol

The last line makes you think and pause for a second.

Thanks for the feedback. My understanding is the cleaners in GC don't chemcially remove the NXT layer assuming it has hardened. I applied the GC and let it glide on. It wiped off pretty effortlessly. From what I can gather from Meguair's, topping NXT with GC is accepted. I was going to switch to the yellow version of their wax but I think I'll look into souveran as suggested. (It did make me think and pause). Thanks for the recommendation.
