Meguairs 8" pads on my PC? I've searched!

Well I can get 8" pads locally. But I was wondering how useful such a large pad would be? Specifically the burgundy cutting pad?

So far, I've "cut" and restored 3 cars, and have been very successful with my PC usage. I've grown up as a car / paint junky, so I admittedly took to using it well. But I have no cutting pad (last one delaminated itself and fell apart) and I'm looking to polish out my brothers new (to him) car. As a brotherly love type deal. =)

Anyways, short story -

8" pad on a backing plate meant for 6" pads. Effective at all? I hope to be removing some deep scarring on a 96' Volvo 850. It's black.

Nope :)

6.5" is the largest you'll want on the PC, otherwise it won't do anything but marr the surface.

BTW, the Meguiars Burgundy pads will marr black paint. Fairly badly, too. I would recommend the LakeCountry Orange Polishing pad, it is the only cutting pad I've found that doesn't marr the surface.

Agreed. The ORANGE LC pad is considered a LIGHT cutting pad, not having the full cut that a cutting pad has. Works wonderfully.
