Meg's Wheel Brightener vs. Top of the Line Power w/pics

I've been waiting for a while to post a review of Meg's Wheel Brightener, but so far I haven't run into a bad enough rim to really show how powerful it is. Well yesterday I got an '03 Saturn in that had previously had brake problems, and had some really severe brake dust. The wheel cleaner on the left is Meg's WB cut 2:1 with water, left is Top of the Line's Power Wheel Cleaner. Middle shots are after spraying but before hosing down, final shots are after one application removed with a stream from a hose nozzle.

The left rim ended up needing two applications of Wheel Brightener with agitation on the 2nd application to get it perfectly clean. The right one got two applications of HT Power with agitation on the second, and still needed WB and agitation to finish out. I think the pictures show how potent WB is, TOL power is a much more effective wheel cleaner than P21S or Castrol Super Clean 2:1, etc, and it still pales in comparison to the big dog.

TOL Power

Nice review man. I can't wait to use my WB soon. Does it have to be diluted or can you go straight from the bottle?

Looks good. How well does it clean the tire? I have found that many good wheelcleaners leave the tires looking pretty dirty, even when I scrub them with Meguiars tirebrush.

I'm not sure WB is intended for cleaning tires, but maybe someone has tried it and can chime in.

I hope it cleans tires also, but what kind of sprayer do you use? Does it come with one or do I need to get a high performance/chemical resistant sprayer?

Yes, you do need a chemical resistant sprayer.

Yes, it does usually do a good job of cleaning the tire but not always.

Damn, another thing I must buy. A2Z works well for me, but isn't very cost effective as I use half the bottle every wash.

Does anyone have the link to the list of local Meguiars Distributors?

Timmah,

Thanks for the review dude, I was actually considering getting some TOL power with my next order. I dont do a lot of nasty wheels, but I bought my focus used and it has some staining on the lip. The lip is really way to small to get at with my hands......Ya think Wheel Brightner may do the trick for me?

I personally wouldn't use an acid based wheel cleaner on tires.

Same here. I actually find that my tires go brown faster(I use water based dressings) when using a strong product vs. just using soap and water. It probably isn't good for all the natural waxes in the tire and what not, and you would be better off getting a dedicated, powerful tire cleaner(High-Temp tire cleaner).

Let me fix this. I'm not saying that I have our would use it as a tire cleaner. I'm speaking more towards the transferred effect of the over spray from the wheel application. It's NOT a good idea to use this as a tire cleaner.

I think you'd better look into a good sealant or wheel wax Bioman. I've done mine and only have to hit them with some car soap and they come clean. Maybe sealant, wheel wax and Michelin brake dust repellent would be in order? There is no way you should have to use half a botlle. BTW, they dropped the A2Z name didn't they?

As for the WB, if I have to use two products no thanks. Plus two applications means a really dirty wheel to me. Have you tried the Mother's FX or Long Haul? Both work well.

I recall there being issues in getting WB shipped over the boarder to Canada...Can anyone confirm this?
