Meg's Ultra Plush Super Terry, any thoughts

I noticed Target started selling Meguair's Ultra Plush Super Terry for $8. It doesn't say anything about cotton percentage but it feels very soft. I know Sal Z suggests 100% USA cotton but was wondering if these would be okay too since I can't justify paying $20+ for one towel.

Anyone have any experience with these towels

Here's my advice: stay away from terry towels. Good microfiber is so cheap these days that it makes no sense not to use mf for everything. PakShak makes the best mf but Wayne's Towels offers some great quality for around $5.

The Super plush terry is a GREAT towel for removing your LSP and giving everything a final buff. It's smaller than their supreme shine MF, but it can hold a lot of residue and doesn't scratch.

I heard the very same thing about microfiber from Sal Zaino and others. The theory is that the fibers act like teeth that cut into the paint, with exception to some of the boutique brands.

i've heard after a few washes, they lint quite a bit and aren't as soft anymore... :nixweiss

I have several of these towels that I use for a first drying pass after using QEW. They are excellent towels! Softness has decreased after several months of use, but that could be my hand washing technique. Definitely no linting though.

I've recently started using the Ultra Plush Super Terry Towels for Meguiar's. Only terry towel I have ever felt comfortable touching to my paint. One of the softest towels I've seen. Works absolutely wonderfully at taking off polishes where you need a little more "umph". I use it for taking off #80 and #83.

By the way, mine have been washed over 10 times and have no lint.

I picked up 4 when they first came out. They have replaced my microfibers for LSP and QD removal.

Linting..... I washed and dryed mine 4 times before using them. Each time my washer tub and dryer lint filter was packed with lint. After the 4 cycles I had enough lint to build a couple more towels. Now the linting is down to "normal" levels and they are still as soft as the day I pulled them out of the package. When I use them on the car, I normally do a quick once over with a microfiber to remove the lint. Taking a short drive is effective too.

You obviously don't realize that Terry is a weave and almost all MF towles are Terry (except waffle and some chamois types.) Also, be careful of "cheap" you get what you pay for. To save $2.00 on a towel but to ruin the paint on a 5 figure car is senseless.

Hogwash. MFs do not do any damage to paint.

That's too broad a statement! MF weave quality, content, and finish can vary greatly. There are a lot of cheap Chinese and Kowean MF sold mostly at discount stores and such that will certainly cause damage.

I'm sorry about the broad language Leo but I have never had any quality mf do any damage. I use quality towels from Wayne's and PakShak.

I'm not sure I agree with your definition of "terry". In my neighborhood this is associated with towels that have some cotton content as most terry towels are. I believe the equivalent mf is called "plush" of some variety.

In my experience cotton blends can often be very damaging to paint although there are exceptions. For this reason I suggest it's just easier to stay with microfiber which is both cheap and effective.

I just came across these today. I have a hard time believing they would scratch the paint. Probably the softest towel I've come across.

I've used them for about 6 months and I love them. Best cotton towel I've used. I also use microfiber. The pile on the terry is deeper and clearly softer. They work great with a QD too.

I've been using them to remove #26. Mine have survived 3 washes so far, and they really do a GREAT job of cleanly removing the Yellow Hi-tech wax. :)

I absolutely love these towels for my initial drying pass in my QEW routine. I've been using them for 6 months now without any problem.

These towels fall into your 'exceptions' catagory. I have a ton of quality MFs but I still like to use the Meguiars new terry cloth towels with QEW and to remove heavy waxes.
