Megs to UPP?

I was wondering if anyone ever applied UPP over DACP followed by #7 (DACP--#7--UPP)? I just ran into a free gallon of both DACP and #7 and was wondering if this would work.

Isn't #7 show car glaze? I thought that was full of oil. If it does have oil, I would think there would be bonding issues.

I didnt think that it would work either but my local megs guy said that people topped #7 with medallion paint protectant. I dunno?

Hmmm, interesting. I have topped it with waxes but not sealant. There is a definite "oiliness" to the surface after using #7, so it never crossed my mind to use a sealant over it. But then again a sealant over VM ( another glaze ) is all the rage, so why not?!? I have personally found VM to degrade the longevity of the sealant, so if it bonds I would expect a similar finding with UPP over #7. Why not give it a stab and report your findings?

Common sense tells me that you would have bonding issues applying UPP over #7.

But like the poster above says, you can always give it a shot and report your finding back here!

:)

UPP will not bond correctly over #7. Will it look good? Yes, but durability will suffer.

ALL of meguiars products are designed to work together which is why the MPPP will work over the #7. The MPPP also has quite a bit of cleaning ability which removes some of the oils of the #7, which helps it bond.

When I use UPP and I want optimum durability I use UPC, afterall that is how the products were designed to work, together.

DACP then UPP would be fine - skip the #7 like others say....more importatnly where do you run into free gallons of products :lol - I want in on that accident!

As EBPcivicsi said, MPPP has come cleaning properties. That would explain its ability to follow #7. UPP will respond better to a surface that is free of oils/fillers. I would recommend using a less abrasive polish between DACP and UPP. DACP routinely results in micromarring for me, so an intermediate step would be prudent.
