Megs NXT and Zaino Z8 help.

I am preparing my daily driver for "winter" (live in the California central valley, winter here is a joke!), anyway, here is my procedure.

Wash (megs deep crystal)

clay (mothers)

wash (dawn)

1 coat Zaino ZPC via cheap ROB

Z6 wipedown

Megs NXT x2 ? paint, glass, lighting ( I don't really want to waste my Z5 and Z2 on my daily)

My question is, can I layer NXT for better results, and if I put some Z8 on over the Megs, will it be as good results as if I had used Zaino as my wax/LSP?

I just really want to know if using Z8 over my Megs wax would be beneficial, or am I just wasting my Z8?

I would like to use Z8 in between washes on top of my NXT to keep it looking and feeling great throughout the winter, as well as protecting my car from the elements.

Why waste the Z8 over NXT? Z8 will work in terms of appearance augmentation but you will probably not ripe the benefits of Z8's durability.

Buy some OTC QD or spray sealant for the DD with NXT and save the Z8 for the Z5'd vehicle.

Better yet apply Z5 to the DD and use Z8 on both. I do not see any saving by not using an ounce or 2 on the DD over the next 6 months.

Cool!

OTC QD (i.e NXT Booster Spray Wax) for the DD.

Save the Z8 for Zaino'd Garage queen. :wavey

Thanks a lot, I'll have the wife pick some of that up while she's out, thanks again for the help.

Although I am a z8 whore, (I mean I use it on painted areas of engine bays :chuckle:), I would save it for the Z'ed car. I see z8 as fitting best along with the rest of the Zaino system. As suggested I would try the meguiars booster wax spray instead.

Z8 works fine over other sealants. It adds a wetness and restores slickness. It doesn't take all that much to cover a car anyway. My bottle easily was enough for about 25 cars. If you it once every two weeks for 3 months, you'll still have 3/4ths of a bottle left.

Just curious, why the Dawn wash after claying? Seems like a time waster to me. :nixweiss

Even if there is light clay residue, ZPC will remove it effortlessly and save you an hour of time.

If you're going to Dawn, do it before the clay.... I don't do it at all, as claying generally does a good job of stripping old wax.

exactly...it even says on the bottle "1/2 ounce should be enough for an average sized car".

the more i use zaino and other products i find the "it takes too long to use zaino" comments losing basis. it doesn't take a whole day to do it from scratch...and a whole 60 seconds of mixing the ZFX into a bottle is not some earth shattering event. if you put on 5 layers of the stuff, then yes, it takes longer...but that is overkill for any product, IMHO.

sorry for the OT mini-rant. :) it just seems that people blow this stuff out of proportion. the SMR steps are what take a long time...and that is a given with any prep.

You're right, but I feel that I have to spend twice the amount of time prepping before Zaino, than I do just to throw on a quick two layers of NXT.

True, but Z8 is the best sealant booster I have used. No reason you can't combine the ease of NXT with the added wetness and slickness of Z8 every couple of weeks.

personally if I was going to use NXT then I'd top it with Duragloss AW. It's cheap, super easy and looks great. Z8 probably won't bond optimally over the NXT because of the silicone oil and trade secret oils. Save the Z8 for over Z5.

Huh? Not sure that really applies to NXT, but more to Meguiars polishes.

I wenat ahead and put a coat of Z8 over it today, came out freakin awesome, my car is a 2002 Mazda Protege5 DARK charcoal metallic, the metallic came alive, and looks wet.....heres a pic, sorry no sunlight for metallic pop.

I don't know if you guys have had experience with these things, but they have paint that is EASILY repairable, and for some reason has almost NO orangepeel.

NXT contains some silicone oils (2%-5% IIRC) and all megs products have some trade secret oils. I know that the bottle of NXT I had had small blobs of oil that seperated out after sitting inside the house for a while. Sal calims that Zaino won't stick over oils so why risk wasting Z8.

Why not try Z8 over NXT and see? Maybe it won't 'bond' but if it makes the car look better, why not? It is always worth at least trying things to see what really works and what doesn't.

Neither of my bottles of NXT seperated (maybe I went through them so quickly) and now I use the paste so seperation probably won't be a concern. ;)
