Meg's NXT and Meg's Cleaner Wax both "all-in-wax*?

I did a search on the forums, i said NXT contained some cleaners in the wax. What are the pro and cons for both

Which wax do you guys recomened? (ease ofuse, durability)



If you dont recommend these wax, whats a good one step OTC wax?
 
I would recommend Meg's NXT if you were to choose between the two. Some members have used NXT, and although it's not very durable, the look is great.



I don't really see why you are limiting yourself to OTC waxes. NXT is pretty expensive, and for the same money you can get Collinite (including shipping). Collinite is definitely superior to NXT in both looks and definitely durability. If you're interested, mactecllc.com sells it for the lowest price from the sites that I've looked at.
 
NXT is really a polymer sealand with 'some' cleaning ability marketed on a consumer level as a 'wax',this means it gives a nice shiney look and marginly better durability than a wax.



Cleaner Wax has some glazes and is a traditional carnuba based wax,will give more of a warmer deeper 'glow' than the nxt but wont be as 'shiney' or quite as durable but in my own expirence NXT isnt all that long lasting as sealants go but it will probably outlast Cleaner Wax.



I would go with the NXT,I prefer the look and slightly better durability,easily avalible and I LOVE the NXT shampoo which appeares to revatlise the original layer.Dont forget the NXT QD (quick detalier) if you can streach to it,makes 'topping up' between waxes a doddle.
 
megs colorx - great cleaning, modest swirl removal, & fairly durable (better lasting than NXT, IMO) not a glossy as NXT(tho a bit "warmer" and better on metal flakes too), but better than ol' megs cleaner wax
 
nxt is a lsp with light cleaners and is to be used when the car has been prepped properly for best results. colorx is a cleaner/polish/wax all in one product (aggressive cleaner wax), and can be used if you're in a jam and can't do all the steps one by one (though you will get better results if you did). some like to use colorx, topped with nxt...
 
which would you recommend then for a black car with no swirls?

I read the site, and it said colorx and cleaner wax gets rid of swirls. Im guessing it has some abbrasives in the wax. Which one is more abbrasive? Which one is less likely to harm my paint?



would i need the polish side of these 2 waxs if i dont have swirls? Or is the polish just to give more clearity in the paint?
 
Your paint will accumulate gunk over time. You need to get the paint clean in order for any LSP (Last Step Product/Protectant) to bond properly and give you best results. The cleaner waxes include that cleaner. The NXT has a very mild cleaner which will not really remove the gunk, but instead make sure that anything really minor is cleaned off (arguably the ingredient that does the cleaning is there for another reason).



One way that people prep for waxing on cars that don't have swirls is to clay...but that can sometimes generate swirls. Another is to use a pre-wax cleaner; if you are buying OTC you can try the Meg's Deep Crystal Step 1, and then follow that with the LSP of your choice, such as NXT or other.

do cleaner wax have more likley chance to cause marring to paint?



are the paint cleaners and cleaner waxs, just apply and wipe off process? (nxt was so easy to use, apply and wipe, it was soo easy that it didnt even require buffing) or do u have to work it into the paint to get it to work. I dont want to cause swirls. ( its a black car :( )
 
Yes, they all go on just like the NXT. I don't think that you can cause marring with an OTC cleaner wax, they are all meant for hand application, so they shouldn't have any big abrasives in them. As far as working them in, the more "dirty" your paint, the more you will have to work it in, or do multiple applications. The only concerns with marring with those OTC products are from your applicators and buffing towels (should be clean and non-marring material) and/or if you pick up a piece of bonded crap from the surface of the paint and drag it around (like a tar or brake dust speck).
 
Dunno... I guess I would recommend the ColorX. It has better cleaning ability. However, don't expect the durability to be anything amazing. Probably 2-3 weeks maximum.
 
2-3 weeks of alittle crazy. I would say at least 1 month. Longer if you take care of the paint(ie wash it and maintain the finish).



I try to do a full detail twice a year with at least two quick coats of NXT between that. Paint is always slick as snot and looks great.
 
i went to the store today to look at detailing stuff. I shook the bottle of colorx and meg cleaner wax, LOL, does anyone think colorx stuff is runny? It doesnt sound very thick compared to the meg cleaner wax. lol

the consumer line maroon bottle cleaner wax (A12) comes in both paste & liquid...
 
There is a lot of confusion about how long NXT lasts. The beading falls of quickly, even after a couple of showers, for me it starts flattening out. However it is supposed to last for much longer. As tough as the stuff is to get out of pads, I'd be surprised if it isn't quite a long lasting product. Surely they could have applied themselves to create something that lasts longer in the beading dept if they wanted to. I've tried pressing Mike P about how long its supposed to last and cannot get a real answer. The official line... NXT is Meguiar best protecting product. Is it better than #26, it sounds like it... #16... can't be sure. Regardless, I would not use it as a cleaner wax, its cleaning ability is mainly to get the surface prepped so it can bond well.
 
If you are looking for an OTC AIO, try Duragloss 101. You missed the sale, but it's still only $9.99 at your local Carquest.
