Megs #9 Swirl Remover

I finally got a chance today to give Megs #9 a try, and I must say that Im impressed with it. However, while it does exacally what its supposed to do, I got no correction on light scratches and blemishes in the paint other than the swirls. Since the paint was in horrible shape, I used 3M Perfect-It 3 compound and a foam cutting pad first. Once that was done, the Megs #9 performed perfectly. The after pic below was taken before sealant was applied. This was done with a rotary, so my question is does it perform well with a ROP or DA?

#9 is actually a pretty mild product on the overall abrasiveness scale; I'm not too shocked to hear your results. I find that it performs similarly on a ROP/DA, and as such I rarely even use it. I much prefer going with M80 or M83 if I need lighter duty correction work, or M205 if I need a longer working time.

I agree. For an OTC product its not bad, but its definatly not SSR2, and won't be a go to product for me. The lack of cut is a big downer for me. There should have been no reason to use compound on the van, and it took twice as long to correct because of it. As I stated in the first post, once the scratches were out, #9 worked great. I think for a hobbyist it would be a great product but not for a pro looking for faster results.

As you found out, though #9 is a nice product it doesn't have much, if any cut. IMO, it is very very close to the Step 2 Polish in the Deep Crystal 3-Step system. Choosing from the Meg's classic Mirror Glaze line-up either #80 Speed Glaze and/or #83 DA/CP will offer more correction ability.
