Here's the story...I'd bought some supplies since I ran out of a lot of stuff I use for my weekly wash/wax. While I was there, I found a nice looking wheel brush that I thought would make things easier, particularly the inside of the rims. I gave it a shot and much to my dismay, the brush left small scratches all over my rims!! After drying, the finish was just very hazy from all of the fine scratches. The rims are painted and the lip is polished and clearcoated. I've never waxed these rims before, even though I've had them on for 3 years. The car gets cleaned so frequently I never thought it would matter...
After some reading on the forums, I went over the rims with meg. #9 and followed with NXT, both by hand. All of the scratches came out and the rims look fantastic. The #9 also took out all of the very small stains/spots on the lip. After 150 miles of stop and go, there is much less dust build up on the rims and what has accumulated comes right off.
I'll only be using that wheel brush to scrub the tires now
