Megs #80 equivalents

I got some 1ZMP from the Autopia sale, but was disappointed that it didn't do as good a job as #80 in removing marring left by 3MPI-IIIRC. It seemed at #9's level.

From the standpoint of removing marring, what are the best equivalents from any line? Any as cost effective as #80?

Also I see that MPPC is listed as chemical only, but some say it is abrasive enough to get swirls and some marring. Is that right?

I'd look into one of the Poorboy's SSR polishes, or the Menzerna polishes. I'm not sure which of these compares to #80 in abrasiveness, but they are supposed to be really good polishes, and I know the SSR line doesn't have any oils/fillers in it. I've used the 1ZPP in the past, but wasn't too impressed with it. I've got a bottle of SSR1 and SSR2.5 to try next :up

1Z MP is about equal to #9 or #82.

To remove marring, 1Z PP and Menz IP are about the same, and a bit more aggressive than #80.

3M Perfect It III Machine Glaze was made to do exactly what you are looking for. It is the swirl remover in the PI III Line. You could also try going over the area again with the PI III Rubbing Compound on a polishing pad instead of a cutting pad. This always gives me an almost ready to wax finish. Then follow with with a light polish like the 1Z MP you already have.

Yeah, what they said :xyxthumbs I especially second SteveT's suggestion to use the PI-III RC by polishing pad for the final passes with that product. You can then usually get by with just one quick pass with the PI-III MG.

I never break out the MP until the finish is already perfect marring-wise. The *pro* version of MP is a bit more aggressive, but still not in the PI-III MG range. I consider the pink/consumer version of MP to be basically a cleaner wax (which is not a criticism).

For a cost-effective equivalent to #80, IMO you can't beat the Hi-Temp Light Cut.
