megs #7

You can use the #7 after the pre-wax cleaner. There's no need for a finishing polish. #7 dissipates quickly in the sun ( in about an hour) so make sure to top it with a wax quickly. You cannot apply a sealant on top of #7.

#7 is a pure glaze. It has no cleaning ability and no abrasives. It uses oils and fillers to hide imperfections in the paint and to give it gloss. I like to think of #7 as a glaze even though Meguiar's calls it a pure "polish". I think the term polish can be confusing since most people equate the word "polish" with "abrasive" which #7 is not. I hope this is helpful to you. :)

I've never use #7. Why can't you apply a sealant on top of #7?

Because a sealant needs a very clean surface to adhere to and #7 has ingredients that sit on top of the paint that would not allow the sealant to bond well.

Now you tell me after i purchase a bottle. So tell me what in the heck is it good other then car shows & Garage Queens. You really now how to shatter a guy

btw,Welcome to DC your post are always a lot of fun..

Good luck to all you people with your Meg's #7.
It is a product that I have never had any luck with. Comes off like dried concrete, smears, just plain gives me fits. I have tried it three different times over the years. Buy a bottle, have no luck, give it away. A year or two later, same scenario. After doing it 3 times, I gave up on the stuff.
FWIW, I have heard the #81 Hand Polish is much easier to use.
As far as I'm concerned, I think I can go directly to either a cleaner polish such as Klasse AIO or right to an LSP from either #80 or Poorboy's SSR2.

My experiences with it have been the same. If you decide to try it a fourth time, make sure you shake the bottle well before application. I've been told that that could be the source of the problems that I've had with it.

Thanks for the suggestion, but three times a fool was enough.:)
The 4th time just isn't going to happen.
FWIW, I did shake it before use and during use. Something I do with any product I'm using. I also received many suggestions on what I was doing wrong. It was much easier to forget about it than to continue to do all the experimenting.

Your Welcome. Good advice on Megs#7 .I purchased the bottle so i'll give a try.

You're very welcome. Just be really careful not to get any on the trim it stains horribly. If you do happen to get some on your trim and it leaves a stain peanut oil will take it out. :)

Yeah Meg's #7 can be tricky.
It sure was for me.

Jen@autogeek said:
My tip would be not to apply it with a machine.
I used it strictly by hand.

is a bear to remove.
No question about that.:)

Tip #2 don't let it dry. I always apply #7 by hand. I rub it into the surface and then buff it off while wet and have never had any problems with it.
When I tried removing it while still wet, it smeared and streaked.

I never reach for my #7 anymore.
Me neither.

As for your bottle of #7 it is still good.
Makes a nice gift.:D

After all this press who in the heck will trade me now. I bought Megs #7 because i though it was a glaze.

Jen do you think if i told Jason i made my purchase with AG he will switch it out for XMT glaze :lmfao

#7 is a glaze. I like it but I like VM better(easier to use). I used it after Poorboy's ProPolish and before P21s Wax. The look was outstanding!Very wet and the shine was brilliant.

I have used #7 with good results before, however it can be a pain sometimes. Just make sure you apply it very thin or it will streak big time. Try to make sure the surface is fairly cool as well I've seen that cause streaking to. Someone mentioned Vanilla Moose Hand Glaze, I agree it is alot easier to use. Just wanted to add that I do believe VMHG has some very light abrasive power.

I'll be trying XMT Carnuba Finishing Glaze next week. I'm really looking foward to this one!
