Meg's #7 is Underrated!

Meguiars #7 (Showcar Glaze) :up:up:up

I never really read or hear too much about #7, but I absolutely love this stuff! I am a firm believer in the process over product theory, but I haven't able to achieve any depth on my red 2000 Eclipse until using #7 today. I followed with NXT, pulled it out of the shade, and WOW! It does a great job of hiding the swirls (temporary fix) and it works wonders on plastic bumpers. I highly recommend it.

Sorry I don't have pics...the parents have the digicam.

Especially easy to apply with a PC. Removes easily if you use a terry cloth towel to remove the initial residue and then polish with a MF towel.

I agree, nothing is quite like it. I've been using it for years and love how it makes the car look. It doesn't dry white or leave a lot of dust or powder on the finish or in the crevices.

Generic Autopian Thread Title: "Man, Meguiars #[insert number] is underrated!"

And it's true, you know.

Except now, it looks like #16 is going to be the darling carnauba for this season, if the Autopia talk is any indication. I want some of that Soft-99. It's so 733t!

Glad you like it, what was your removal process? I still haven't gotten a good feel for #7, but #81 is easier to use IMO.

I just used a terry cloth towel to remove it. It is very thick stuff. When you hear the "squeeking" noise when rubbing the towel on the car, you know the glaze has done it's job :D It's definately the hardest product to remove that I have ever used.

I used MF with the NXT of course.

Heh heh, yeah, we'll see how long the #16 revival lasts. Those of us who've been using it all along will probably stick with it, though.

Put some #16 over the #7 and it's the 60's all over again :D On some vehicles, especially those with ss paint, I still think the old-fashioned combos look "just right".

Maybe we're heading back towards the days when we were singing the praises of IHG topped with carnaubas. It wasn't all that long ago...

Been using #7 by hand very thin and by PC and have NO problems. I really like how it hides very light swirls effortlessly and still leaves a very nice look, IMO. Perfect for #26 Liquid on black....AND I top with #SIXTEEN and THAT can be a death march if you leave it on too long.

Scott: Does #3 and #81 "skin over" like #7? I have Hand Polish but have not used it yet. I would be interested in knowing your thoughts on these three products. (Also, is #81 a HAND applied polish only and do you use a terry cloth like you do for DACP?) Thanks.
