Meg's #16 vs. Collinite 845 IW

Do you have either on hand?

IMO, in Canadian weather, either one would probably need some mid-winter boosting to up the slickness. I have 845, and despite the rave reviews on #16, I wouldn't go out on a epic journey to seek it out, as well as spending $30 on a can of wax--that probably is on par with 845(Which I have found at Carquest) or only slightly better.

I'm 100% satisfied with 845, so I wouldn't care to try anything else for winter.

Good luck!

If you are comparing #16 to #845,then i agree that they are pretty close in terms of durability. However,i don't think that #16 can compare with collinites #476, at least that has been my observation.

If you have to pick from #16 or #845,i would probably go with #845( several coats),but only because application would be a little easier/quicker,but you won't go wrong with either.Personaly,i would try and get the #476 if you can.

I have both.

845 is a breeze to use looks good and is fairly durable

#16 is more involving to use, IMHO looks better and is more durable.

I use both depending on how much time I have or what I am trying to do.

Zaino is the most durable product I have used, but that is not the topic.

I have #16, and I choose Collinite #885 which is the same as 476 paste for my winter protection.. It beads similar to the #16 but I think will have better durability. #16 looks great, but I think Collinite 885 hit with some FK 425 also looks quite superb..

Both will give you great durability though.

I have #16 and 845. Meg's wins by a hair on looks, though 845 is still very good. I think 845 wins by a hair on durability, and is definitely easier to use.

I went with a couple of layers of 845 last winter, and am doing so again this winter. I got a surprise warm spell last January, and got a mid-winter coat on, which helped nicely.

There isn't a "bad" choice between the two, though it is easier to get 845. 476 would be the durability champ, if you can get it.

This might be one of those too-close-to-call comparisons. I have not doubt that people who find 845 more durable *did* experience that. But OTOH when I did panels side-by-side on my wife's A8 the #16 stayed slick/beading longer :nixweiss

IMO the Collinite paste is truly the last word in durable wax, but between the #16 and 845 I bet it's just one of those YMMV things.

I think I'm going to go with 845IW and hold on to #16.

I chose 845 over 476 because of looks, I will just layer the 845 and give it that mid-winter boost to make up for the durability.

#16 lasts longer for me than 845, plus I prefer the softer wet glow of #16 to 845s more glass-like shine. Can't go wrong with either for winter protection though.
