Hello all!
I got my Paint Detective 8 on wednesday and hadn't time to try it until today. The first impressions are good. But I have couple of question though.
I went to my garage and took some quick readings on my BMW E60 2004 sapphire black car. And now I am a bit confused about the readings???
Facts:
- Ok, I know the PD8 is a low-end gadget
- The car wasn't just washed, but all panels measured were quite clean (no visible grit)
- There is one layer of AG SRP + one layer AG EGP on it
- The paint has been corrected twice
Readings:
- I got readings from 120µm up to 180µm depending on a panel.
- I got the lowest readings on door panels, which needed the harshiest compounds in last detail.
- Highest readings were on the roof
1) Can it be true that there would be this much paint+clearcoat? 180µm!?
2) How much the LSP's affect the readings?
I have been worried about the thickness after the last detail (noobie), and if these readings are even near the truth, I would be really happy!
Any thoughts are much appreciated! Thank you!
