The owner of this mazdaspeed 3 contacted me about large amounts of tar going down the sides of his car that he couldn't get off. When it arrived, we found out there were also micro specs of black paint overspray down half of the car.

What about 70% of the car looked like:

The tools: Stoner's Tarminator and Clay Magic Claybar, followed up with Meguiar's #26 yellow tech wax and Z-16 tire dressing

Great job!!! What a PITA. I like stoners it works well. How much time did you spend on removing the tar?

Wow. Great job on the cleanup. How many clay bars did you go through? Did you basically use Tarminator as a lube?

The job was a total of 4 hours. It included a full wash, tar spray removal (which took a can and a half to do!), clay (took forever also), and finish with a wax.

I used 1 clay magic clay bar, but it was completely useless when I was done with it. I used the clay magic lube for about a third of the car. When that ran out I used ONR. The tarminator stuff wouldn't work well as a lube - its too thin and smelled like it is alcohol based. The car got a straight water rinse down between the tarminator and claying because I was worried the tarminator would break down the clay too much.
