Mazda 3, One Black, One White and A Gray

Gen2

New member
This black Mazda 3 is relatively new but there were some ugly swirls induced on the bonnet and some other parts of the body.

The steps taken were as follow,

1. wash

2. clay

3. Intensive polish + orange pad + cyclo

4. Prime Strong + polishing pad + DA @ speed 4

Here’s the before and after shots,

After

Prime Strong proves to be pretty effective in removing light marring and doing a final polishing with the DA machine.

Then the car was sealed with the JW Acrylic Jett Trigger using an extra plush MF towel by hand and here’s how it turned out,

Scottwax - Thanks for the compliment. Autopia has greatly helped me in developing my detailing skill, all the unselfish sharing from the members here has benefited me in many ways, especially from you :2thumbs: .

MITeggy17 - The exterior mod done on this Mazda 3 sure looks great and thanks for you kind words :)

This white Mazda 3 is about 1.5 yr old; the owner takes great care to maintain the car however some swirls still find their way to the car. The steps taken for this car is the same as the black Mazda 3 and below are some before and after photos,

Even though it is a light color car, JW AJ Trigger does manage to bring out the wet glossy look on the car,

Now we come to the Gray Mazda 3. The owner used to wash the car everyday, clay and apply sealant to the car every week. When the car was sent to me, I was shocked to see there wasn’t any brake dust on the wheels at all. But even after 2 years of careful and loving self maintenance, some swirls were created on the car.

Here’s a photo of the swirls found on the car, consider pretty mild for a 2 year old car.

The steps taken were also the same as the previous 2 cars and by the time I finished with the defect removal, there was no more sun and the effect from the spot light is not good either, so ended up with no after photos on the defect removal.

The sky was very dark when the photos were taken, so some of the pictures the lighting effect came out pretty not consistent. But still you can see the shine and wet look on the car.

Did you guys notice the interesting phenomenon from the reflection? The following picture will show you how the sky actually looks like, I not sure about you guys but that was the first time I saw such sighting.

Thanks for the patience going through the whole posting and I hope you guys will like it.

All 3 look great, as stated before, I'd have to say the black one is still the best though :2thumbs:.

Those reflections look awesome on the grey one too. :spot

Gen2 ........

So would you say the Mazda paint is soft or hard in a general comparison ?

I'm having some trouble removing some swirling on a copper red Mazda 3

wirh ssr2.5 amd a Porter cable.

Thx ........ Great results BTW ....... :2thumbs:

Hey guys thanks for all the compliments and I appreciate it very much.

Kwan - I would say the mazda paint is neither hard or soft, moderate I would say. With the cyclo, IP and the orange pad, it took me maximum 2 passes to remove the defects from these 3 cars.

Hi Gen2, I see you're from singapore and that your name is my national car. :)

I'm interested in the DA you are using..and are you a pro detailer? you're work and pictures are amazing!

I especially love the first full-car picture of the White one. love it

Having a grey 3 myself. Let me tell you I'm very impressed !!! I think I'll follow your steps.

Do you think I'll need the 4" pads for my PC to get the same results ?

Wow, amazing work. I need to try the JW Trigger. I have the Prime Strong and love it and use it as a base for Zaino. The reflections in the gray car were light refracting through water vapor, like in a rainbow.

Hi guys, thanks again for all the kind comments :)

fishbonezken - Nice to 'meet' you here and I am actually driving a Gen2 too :P. The DA I am using is Rupes BR65AE and it works great for me. If you happen to come over to Singapore do give me a PM, than we can arrange for a meetup.

Rafa - I am not sure whether if a 4" pad on a PC will give similar result but I do find moving the machine slower do help to get a better result. I got this tips from Scottwax's postings.

johnhoefer - I believe you will not be disappointed with AJ Trigger, in fact the owner of the grey Mazda 3 has been using Zaino for the past 2 years and he decided to make the switch after seeing the result.

Kwan - You are welcome.
