Master Blaster Hose extension - alternative brands?

I've been meaning to get a 30+ foot hose for my MB so that I can leave the unit on my cart instead of dragging it around behind me as I go around the car...

...the metrovac 30' hose is an astounding $75, which is way more than I will spend on an air hose.

The site says it is a 30'x1.5" hose, so I have found that most pool vacuum hoses are the same diameter and come in varying lengths... example: 40'x1.5" vacuum hose: $41

Tried searching a bit and didn't find anything, so has anyone used alternative hoses either from the hardware store, pool supply store, whatever? I can't think of any reason it would be any different than the master blaster hose, but it is always worth asking first!

Thanks in advance.

maybe bring your current hose to the store and compare the fittings? my rigid vac is 2.5 diameter but they make adapters to fit the 1.5 hose. you could possibly do the same if it doesn't work out

I don't see it being an issue as long as the size matches up. I may go check this idea out tomorrow as I have a pool and a massive hose... Ill see how it fits on my vac n blo

do you not loose suction power with a hose that long? I know not the original post but just curious? Thanks

Let me know how it goes!

Most people report little to no performance loss with the 30' hose vs the 10' hose from what I have read

Zach,
That hose you have in your post has some really bad reviews...

I bought the Metrovac longer hose years ago, and found that its just too heavy and of course that extra length Im dragging around gets all dirty and stuff sticks to it by static electricity too, so I put it away and just use the one that came to it..

I dont really mind moving the machine around on the top shelf of one of my Detailing Carts, and like that I can access it quicker if I need to turn it off for something..

That Cen-Tec hose made for central vacs looks like its might be better quality than that pool hose too..

Good luck !

I have both the 30 an the 10. The difference in output between the two is noticable but not a mitagating factor in the use of the 30. The 30 is convenient, that said is does get dirty but very easy to clean. As long as you have a mount a wind it up on your fine. It's honestly a big time saver, then again I have a roboreel so I like things convenient more then power imo.

I agree. I found that an inexpensive garden hose reel works also. My biggest issue with that was mounting it someplace.

Al,
Its really not that big of a footprint, actually way shorter than my mega-long metrovac..
Metrovac also sells the correct hanger for this and the vacuum so it hangs vertically..

The hardest part would be where to put that long hose, and they solved that by selling these really nice metal hangers that would go on the wall and hopefully you can stretch the hose all the way out and it stays nice and straight that way..

Good luck !

I want to mount it near the garage door so I can use it inside or out. Along the wall there is shelving then a window. But I have a plan and will share fairly soon.

Al,
Yes, right by the garage door, is where I hang both those metrovac tools..
And close by is my 20amp plug so I can use all the long cord that comes with those tools to my advantage..
Their hose hangers are perfect for both the vac and master blaster..

Checked today, not sure exactly what size the hose is (I didn't buy it) but it did not fit on my vac n blo. The hose was a little too big. About the thickness of the end fitting too big, so I suspect maybe it's a 1.5" inside diameter hose while the metro hose is 1.5" outside diameter. I didn't measure but that's about how much too big the hose was

When I bought my 30' metro hose to replace the two 10' I looked into alternative hoses since $75 seemed just crazy for a hose. All the other cheap hoses had horrible reviews that they would rip/crack after only a couple uses. I decided to go with the metro hose for piece of mind since I've never had a problem with their CS. We had a pool growing up and those pool hoses were no where near the quality of the metro hoses.

The only way to go! My Master Blaster is on the bottom with 3 extensions. I later added a Vac'n Blo with 3 extensions.
