Masking trim

What is recommended to mask off trim when polishing / waxing? I am assuming that I want something that won't leave residue on the area masked off. Would I use the same amsking tape that is used by painters to mask off baseboards?

Finally a chance to use my new PC this weekend with 3M products. Three cars to do, but will start with the oldest (Miata) and work to the newest (BMW).

Thanks.

Any painter's masking tape will do just fine. Blue is normally the color used for quick-release masking. If you don't leave it on the car more than 24 ours or so, you won't have any residue. Don't put it in the sun with masking on for the obvious reason.

Check Home Depot or any paint store. I use a 3M tape (not the blue one) that is for extra gentle surfaces - $1.89 or so. It takes me two seconds to mask off and does wonders for a perfect coat of polish / wax. After I easily peel off I apply Black Again and it looks sweet!
