Well I finally did it, after 30 years of working with power tools I had an accident. I was cutting a piece of plywood with my cordless circular saw and it kickekback and got the first 2 fingers on my left hand. Totally my fault, I was tired and did not hace the ply secured.

In machine shop in 8th grade (1994) I had a girl cut off all the fingers in her hand. The shop teacher yelled at her and was mad. He started screaming,"I told you kids something like this would happen. See you should have been more careful."

While he was yelling at her and us, she was in the corner in shock. The paramedics showed up, picked up the fingers, and took the girl in an ambulance. They ended up reattaching the fingers and did a great job.

Sounds like that teacher shouldnt of been a teacher.

Glad you didnt loose them zippy. Ive used saws a little and I always worry when using them.

Saws are soooo quick when they bind up and kickback. Glad to see you only mangled the fingers. I had the same thing happen to me 37 years ago just move over to the middle finger being mangled and the ring finger being cut off about an inch.

I was over reaching when my saw kicked back. Dumb, really dumb because I knew better but I still did this. I still use a circular saw [threw the finger eater saw in the trash.]

These two fingers are super sensitive to hot and cold. All the nerve endings are located in the tips of your fingers. Now they tell me.

Be prepared to scream when they take out the stitches – I yelled really loud and scared everybody in the area. :scared: Hurt like heck!

Hope you're feeling better. Fingers & Thumbs are IMMENSELY important, keep care. Matt how long are you out of action? Let me guess, more home improvement? :D

I already cut the stitches out myself. I hurt but not as bad as the first few days of pain.

Ouch! Like others have said glad to see you didn't lose anything.

I just started woodworking this winter. I've always been afraid of using saws but I bought a table saw and circular saw. I try to think everything through and take my time. I'm still a little nervous each time I use it.

be glad you didnt get the bone! i got my index finger in a table say at work. i caught the top side of my finger.....right through the nail! chipped the bone and cracked it to the first knuckle. been a bit over 2 months now and it looks pretty normal. amazing what doctors can do these days!
