Makitta 9227 - need opinions

DEEP & WET
I found this "deal" from a supply store on the net. but I don't know if it's truely a good deal. I also am unsure of the pads they offer with it. Opinions are welcome on pads, price, and rotary. Price: $187 including shipping

That sounds good. Coastal tool has it for 179 + shipping (that's where I got mine). On the plus side, Coastal is in Conn.

FYI, the included pads are "Makita branded" wool pads.

Yes, itâ€â„¢s a very good deal. The tool itself is bullet-proof, the bag offers plenty of room to accompany both a rotary and PC, and pads are good (not that youâ€â„¢ll need them often, but good in worst case scenarios). $187 is a steal. Enjoy your new toy :)

Is the backing plate provided able to work with the pads I use with my PC or is the backing plate to big?

Coastal tools is cheaper for me too. Thanks for the tip!

The Makitaâ€â„¢s backing plate is an odd size; however, the spindle is universal and will accompany any plate from 3.5â€Â up to 8â€Â. You can find a backing plate to fit your current pad selection just about anywhere on the Internet.

So, I have to buy an additional backing plate! Well, that kinda' sucks now don't it! Thanks

JJ

I'm not sure about the odd size since the original backing plate is the only one I've used, but it works well with the Meg's 8" SoftBuff pads.

Get a backing plate for the Makita sided so you can continue the same pads used on your PC..... It will help with tool control
