Makita Polishing Pads

Just curious if anyone uses Makitaâ€â„¢s polishing pads? My local retailer now carries an assortment of pads for roughly half the price of what I normally pay . . . are they worthwhile or should I stick with whatâ€â„¢s tried and true. Feedback is much appreciated :D

I have a Makita 9227C and have used pads from ECP. They are very good quality and fit very well. I'm now using advanced polishing pads. Soon to try something from this site.

My felling is that Makita makes tools and probably subs the pads to someone else that makes them for Makita.

Personally I'd stick to brand name pads and pay the difference. It's the difference between wrecking the paint and doing a good job. A pad usually lasts me about 40-50 vehicles. That's about 20 cents per polish. Pretty cheap if you ask me.

If you are looking to save a few bucks, I'd try somewhere else.

Boy, I just re-read this...Don't mean to sound like I'm coming down on you! Don't read it that way. Get the good one, you'll be happy you did.

You didn't mention if it was your local Makita tool dealer, paint shop or detailing supplier.

In my neighborhood tool suppliers know a lot about brad nailers and Skil saws but zilch about polishing paint. A paint shop or detailing supplier will be much more likely to have good advice on the subject.

If the savings are that important too you I would suggest trying them out on cars that you're willing to take risks on first.

PC.
