Makita leak

I searched but couldn't come up with anything more recent than 2003 so here it goes- I've been starting to use the Makita more and more (maybe a dozen times total- purchased in Dec.'07)and yesterday I noticed some oil coming out from around the larger bolts near the head (4 of them). It wasn't running at the time, just caught my eye when I picked it up. I wiped it clean, stored it but noticed a little bit more this evening. It isn't alot but I'm wondering if this is something I need to be concerned about or if its just breaking in and purging excess oil. ANy input would be greatly appreciated.

is it safe to assume it is hot where you are?

there are gears in the head with greese on them

it is prob just braking down some

I would not give it a second thought

I had the same thing happen to my Makita after its first use. It was about 104 degrees out too so, yes, it's probably just the grease makin' it way out. Although not 100%, I "think" you can repack the grease very easily. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Thanks for the replys- it hasn't been too hot and I keep it stored in the basement, but since this machine is just now starting to get some hours on it I'll assume its just breaking down some gear grease.
