Not really sure where this goes....Mods please move if it needs to be somewhere else.

I have a makita buffer and the first time i used it after i set it down came back 10 mins later and it had oil dripping out of it..... seemed to be coming out of the part where the curved handle attaches to the metal head part, is this normal? I always thought devices leaking oil was BAD do i need to take it back? set something on fire? help.

How much oil are we talking about here?

I have never used this buffer, but most power tools come lubed from the factory. Usually the firt time you use it the factory lube gets worked into the bearings and any excess lube is spit out of the joints and leaks out.

i have the same problem but i`ve noticed my makita leaked between the metal and the plastic part, and it was sitting in the box ofter i`ve used it.

And it`s BRAND NEW!!

It sounds normal to me, as long as it's only a small amount, my DW849 does the same thing. The gear housing is packed with grease, it should be replaced every year or so depending on use.
