Making your own "touch up leveler"

I have heard of some people making their own touch up leveler by mixing lacquer thinner and rubbing compound together. I was curious as to how much lacquer thinner to add to the compound and how well it works.

I'd rather shave it or even color sand it.



Solvents remove new paint uniformly. Problem is, the new paint is dome shaped. By the time you get the center down to where you wanted it the edges are completely gone. So you end up with a dollop of paint in a circle of primer.
