Hello everyone
A previous client wanted to have his Father's truck detailed as a retirement gift. He was so happy with the way his own Denali came out, citing very easy washing and drying, no worries of chemicals and fine scratches, and the best looking vehicle on the road. So naturally he wanted it done for his Father too. We were very honoured to deliver this gift on his behalf!
The paint on this vehicle was very soft, so it required a great amount of care and patience to achieve the necessary results before applying Opti Coat Pro. You can tell the paint was very soft by looking at how much damage accumulated after just two years of ownership.
The paint received a two-step correction process followed by Opti Coat Pro (including plastics). You can actually feel the layer on top of the paint when you compare it to a panel that has not been coated. The difference is pretty obvious.
Tires dressed with PERL. Wheels sealed with Reload. Reload also applied to windows. Exhaust tip polished after pictures were taken.
As you can see, the truck was pretty filthy. A strong wash cleaned the paint up very well. We found the paint had some cement bonded to it, as well as some yellow road paint. After that was removed, we IronX'd the entire vehicle. Following that we clay'd the paint and wiped with IPA. Wiping with IPA preps the paint for correction by removing polymers from the clay bar lubricant that may interefere with paint correction.
Speaking of paint correction, this truck needed lots of it! Even under natural light, the paint showed some serious issues!
Checking with camera flash (as well as other light sources)
Nice and clear!
Here is a shot after the first step of correction, showing how dull the paint was prior to our first step
Finally, we did our final polishing step to level out the paint further and bring up the gloss a notch. Following this, we attacked the wheels, tires, and wheel wells, all of which we had pretreated to ensure a thorough cleaning. We then washed the truck, wiped with Eraser, and applied Opti Coat Pro. The next day we returned for general clean up, touch ups and a thorough inspection. Here are the afters:
Here is my favourite picture!
I hope you enjoyed this Click & Brag! As always, any comments, questions, criticisms are always welcomed.
Sincerely,
Kaval Vilkhu
