Magic Eraser for clear coat rims?

I've seen a lot of posts on here about this stuff but only for things like plastic trim or vinyl scuffs. I just purchased some Magic Eraser Wheel and Tire but am hesitant to use it on my alluminum alloy clear coat rims. Has anyone had success using Magic Eraser on their clear coat rims?? Any info would be great. Thanks.

I wouldn't use it on wheels at all. It's definitely not made for use on clearcoats.

Keep it for vinyl and plastic.

Nice car BTW :xyxthumbs

Yeah, I wouldn't use it either for your purpose. I don't have my package in front of me at the moment, but I thought they say you can use this on wheels or rims, but at the same time it says not to use it on any shiney/glossy surface. Maybe they mean white lettering on tires? Anyhow, as white95max said, keep it on plastic, and vinyl. I've used it on wood surfaces also with great results.

I wouldn't use it on plastic trim either! I have tried both the Mr. Clean and Brawny brands of the eraser, on my cladding of my Escape, to remove heavy tar spots. They took the finish off leaving behind bleached spots. It seemed to take some of the tint (dye?) off the plastic. I have tried to remove the spots and found some success with Megs Trim Detailer. As for wheels, I don't think I would trust it.

It is an abrasive.

Just by the touch of it, you can say its abrassive. I heard good thing of it to remove wax over plastic trim, so I decide to give it a try. I end up scratching my tail light, so now I have to use PlastX on it. Not very happy with it as you can tell.:down

The morale of the story is to not use it on wheel. A good cleaner and a sponge is much less armful and probably more efficient.

Never heard of it. Blue Magic and flitz is great for clearcoat aluminum rims. Test out this magic stuff and see if it holds true. It should clean without being abrasive.
