purchased all the parts i needed to make a sungun for less than $60. mine has 50w bulb instead of the 35w recommended on detail forum from the bloaks over the pond. good bye brinkman.

I am looking forward to pics and documentation.

You know there may be many of us who want to build or buy one of our own. You may have a new business here...

i need to find that thread and how to build one. i have an old brinkman that dont work so i got a case to hold it all already

was the 50watt bulb the same temp as the 35 watt? color temp will play a factor in how much the light will show. also what is the beamspread on the sun gun bulb and the bulb you used? Also did you use a SoLux bulb? that is the bulb used in the sun gun. bulb are like the polishes we use. they are made to be used for the same same purpose but each companys polishes work different from the next. same goes here too. another companys MR16 bulb will not work the same as SoLux MR16 bulb

I'm tossing my name in here too. I'd love to see some photos and technical information as I may just want to take a stab at building one too! :bigups

Don't they make this same type of unit for sale?

Something seems Iffy about this, no details, super small photos, and the transformer type idea of "just take a drill and a bulb and mate them to create a sun gun".

I might be wrong but time will tell.....

Cheers,
GREG

It was brought up in a different thread here recently, but the guys over in the UK came up with this idea a little while ago.

thank you c.h. it is where i got the idea and it does indeed work. couldn't find a solux bulb but i used a 50w 12v halogen, bought a connection for the bulb, bought a 12v portable drill, took it apart, cut the wires from the switch to the motor. removed the motor and hot glued the bulb in its place wired the bulb connection to the trigger. charged up the battery and it worked fine.

My friend Blk45 has a hand held light that he got for Xmas and it will light up a panel the next county over. It's so powerful that one has to wear sunglass.:D
