Made my mind up

Thank you everybody for the advice and their opinions, much appreciated. I admit at first I was worried about using Klasse (hazing and problems removing SG) but im glad I went ahead and used it AIOx1 and SGx3 marveled by the that candy look and the results. No problems so far, no problems removing the SG just get a couple of tough spots which a sprits of a QD can fix. Just have to make sure I apply SG super super thin and with some little experience I came up with a technique which can eliminate applying too much SG and getting those tough spots. After speaking to Bob ( Klasse West Coast Rep.) and giving it more thought I will skip the carnauba topper, I don't want to spend 30 to 60 minutes applying a carnauba wax that lasts about 2 to 4 weeks. Also don't want to apply Blitz (long lasting carnauba) but I don't want spend days removing the residue, and no tape for me thanks. I do know from experience that carnauba does wonders on black and dark colored cars, but to me applying carnauba waxes are a pain in the a**. Here is my final thought I will just wash on a weekly basis and do touch ups as needed and evaluate the finish and just add coats SG as needed until it reaches about 6 months and start the Klasse process all over again.

Thanks again

C240..I am in the same boat as you. I am waiting for the first warm day to try out some Klasse AIO and SG on my used truck I just purchased. Depending on how it comes out I might make the big switch. I have heard nothing but good things so far.

I might go that route, but a friend and I were thinking of buying the 2/$95 deal for Souveran. How much does this actually change the appearance of the car? Can you really see the difference in shine and depth, or is the reason it's so great is because it's so easy to put on and wipe off?

Chris-

Either way - you can't go wrong. I use P21S, and highly recommend it - but the finish with just AIO and 5 coats of SG was pretty damn good to begin with :)

Do you really see that much of a difference after using a carnauba, or can only the trained eye tell the difference? I would LOVE to try Souveran after all I've heard about it, but if it's just fun to smell and wipe, then I'll put my wallet back in my pocket. There are cheaper things to smell and wipe.

Although I don't feel the need to add a wax topper to my Klasse, you shouldn't worry, as quality waxes like Souveran and Blitz don't have fillers (or much) so white residue being left behind should be minimal to non-existant.

I really love the way Klasse looks and performs, I'm just needing to find the time to clay and re-Klasse.

But does it look a lot better when adding a layer of Souveran to layers of Klasse SG, or is it just great because of it's ease of ability to use? I am willing to pay $50 for the wax if it really will make a difference. But if it doesn't look that much better, then bump that.

DOES THE CAR LOOK SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER AFTER ADDING SOUVERAN TO LAYERS OF SG?

I thought that Souveran or Blitz on top of Klasse definitely improvet the depth of shine significantly. I had Klasse alone at first, then went to Souveran topper, then Blitz topper and now its been a few months and I guess I am back to plain Klasse again.

After experiencing all of these looks, I can say the topper is the best looking. But that is not to say that Klasse alone is not a pretty look. I think you will be happy with any of the looks, and the changes just make things a bit more fun.

It is a matter of preference....

My friend just got a STEEL GREY 330Xi, and he detailed his car with carnuba only. When we parked next to each other the cars looked like they were different colors! His was darker in the shade and didn't really even look grey till the sun hit it. Both looked great..........

In my opinion carnuba tends to hide the metallic qualities in paint a bit more...I wouldn't use it on metallic paint.

C240 - what was your SG application technique?

Chuck - driver over here and I'll slap a coat of Souveran on ;) Man, we NEED free samples of this stuff. Your pusher would get you hooked, and then you'd be back paying a premium ever after...... :D

Seriously, although I haven't seen it on top of a bunch of SG, I have tried it on both of my cars over Gold Class, which itself has a darn good gloss. And it DOES add "depth".

Here's the issue I'm grappling with Souveran over SG though: you apply it, car looks great. Now fast forward. You want to apply more SG. How do you strip the carnauba without stripping the remaining SG?

"Here's the issue I'm grappling with Souveran over SG though: you apply it, car looks great. Now fast forward. You want to apply more SG. How do you strip the carnauba without stripping the remaining SG?" My question too, people say to use clay. Clay will remove Klasse? I use a Meguiars foam applicator and dab a nickel size drop on the middle of it and fold in half to spread the product then i blot in several areas of the pannel im doing. This spreads the SG well and makes it harder to get a big patch of it where it first touches the pannel. Therefore not leaving a big patch which can take some QD and elbow grease to buff out. Have had very easy buffing and great results with SG but im only on my 3rd coat of it.

Chuck-

I can't speak to Souveran - but at $24.95, P21S is a bargain, and it lasts for quite some time. Easily, being a topper to Klasse, I'll get a year out of the (can?) and I use it after every wash, at least 1-2x a month.

C-

I think you give carnauba too much credit. I mean - the P21S is pretty durable - but I think after 2-3 weeks of daily driving, the protection is gone. If you were to wash after those 2-3 weeks, you're good to go with another SG coat.

Will the SG bond as well as if it was just plain Klasse? Maybe not - but that's why you strip every 4-6 months anyway. You have to plan for that AIO step, so that you can clean the surface down to the clear, and then build up a fresh layer of sealant.
