Well there goes another hundo to detailing supplies. I know that isn't much to some but for a summer job salary and only doing mine/maybe families car it adds up quick.

I picked up:

Yellow CCS pads

2 4" Orange LC pads

4 4" PFW pads

3.5" backing plate and adapter for PC

SSR3 polish

Poorboys spray and gloss

303 protectant

I'll put up a list of what I already have later.

The truck truthfully probably needs compounding but I"m going to try teh SSR3 and PFW 1st with the 4" pads and see what I can knock down. Of course, pics will follow.

4" PFW and SSR3 is some serious horsepower. Do you have SSR2.5 (or equivalent) to go with those orange pads to step down?

Yep I've got most of the poorboys line I think lol. Got it a couple years ago when the poorboys stuff was popular. I have some pretty serious stuff to correct. I went over an area with 4" orange and 2.5 and it knocked alot down but still was visible scratches in normal light. Figured I'd give this a try.

Well, I don't read much about it on this site. I still love how easy it all is to use. I can't wait to try some of it w/ the PC.

FWIW I recommend starting out with SSR2.5 w/ the PFW. I'd actually be surprised if you need to get more aggressive than that - and if so, maybe only in really bad spots. Good luck!

Yeah, the 3.5" PFW pads make the PC infinitely more aggressive. Don't use too much product ;) and be sure to work the product a good long time as the wool behaves quite differently from foam.

IME the SSR 2.5 has very little cutting power, and does not do a good job of removing more than very minor swirls.

what adaptor are you referring to with the 3.5" backing plate. I just picked one up but I didn't get any adaptor?? just got the backing plate and 4" pads. ruh roh

I hear you, and in general I agree. However, I've had pretty good luck with it when used with a 5.5" LC yellow pad - particularly on GM finishes. I've also experimented with 4" orange pads, and was very pleasantly surprised at the amount of cut. With a small PFW I imagine it would do some good work. However, my thoughts are actually more geared towad the use of SSR3. In my experience, it's a huge step up in aggressiveness from SSR2.5 - so much so I've often thought it should be called SSR4. SSR3 w/ a 5.5" yellow pad will definitely cut, but man does it leave behind a mess!

Just thinking of the adage, start conservative and build up as needed. I can only guess that SSR3 with a small PFW pad might be overkill.

Sorry, I actually got a 2 3/8" backing plate for the PFW pads I got, and it had to have an adapter I believe.

I have a question about the PFW pads, what exactly is 'spurring'? It sounds like it is just a way to clean the pad, but exactly how?
