Machine polisher question

ROCKNROLL

I am new to the forum and I have a car with superficial scratches.I would like to know if I need a polisher to remove them.
I have been looking at polishers,PC,Flex and others.I guess the main questions I have are, with no experience with a polisher and foam pads, can I be successful in removing defects without swirl marks....like get rid of one problem and create another.
The flex machine is much higher rpm that a PC ,1000-3000...at 1000 rpm for a beginner would that not be a good idea ?
I have always had minor defects in my cars ,and I would like to learn how to get rid of them...
Help very much appreciated. :D

welcome to DC :welcome: the Flex is random orbital and should not create swirls, only remove them ... the PC is also a great way to begin if you are a bit afraid... learning the use of a machine is not very hard, just remember to start with the least aggressive method of pad and product combo until you feel comfortable and slowly move up to a more aggressive combo until you find what works for you ... lots of reading and research is also available using the search button :D

With DA's you do not have to worry about speeds as much but with a rotary that is a different story. You need to do a little research to find out what machine you need or want to start out with.

I would also suggest you learn how to wash without creating the swirls, once you have perfected that their will be very little need for polishing the paint off the car all the time.

I use the two bucket method and the scratches are from another situation.
Iam not at entry level here...but Iam not done learning yet either. :D
