M3, Viper, SRT8 Charger *56K*

GOT PREP?
On Saturday I had more than I could handle in the way of details, in addition to what is seen here in the pics, I also did an exterior wash of an accord, and polished a motorcycle. I knew that I could not possibly do the work by myself, so I called Tony (Hilfigercelica) to help me out. Tony helped me out tremendously as he is familiar with detailing and knows how to polish with the PC. Once we figured out a routine, we attacked the vehicles and made a great team. I hope to use Tony on every Saturday that I can—until he starts med school. :D

We arrived at the first location and began to detail the M3. The owner always keeps his cars clean, so I knew that we would not have a problem here. We washed, dried, wiped down the motor, and spot polished with the PC and Meguiars #80 to remove some marring from a clear bra installation (as well as some marring on the truck and rear QP). While I sealed the paint with Meguiars #21 Tony was vacuuming the interior and wiping everything down with Meguiars interior quick detailer. The glass was cleaned with Eagle One 20/20, the tires were dressed with Meguiars hyperdressing.

We then drove to our next location, which was about 25 miles away and set up shop. We started off with the viper—always clean, but needed a little polishing/interior maintenance.

We split the car in half and began washing, and then we dried. While Tony vacuumed/wiped down the interior (Meguiars interior QD), I was washing the black accord. Once we were both finished, we pulled the Viper into the shop and began polishing. We used our porter cables to polish the viper with Optimum polish/compound (50/50), then sealed with Wolfgang deep gloss sealant. The tires are dressed with Meguiars all-season dressing, glass cleaned with EO 20/20.

That’s Tony’s leg poking out there—he was polishing the underneath the rear bumper with Poorboy’s pro polish (removing exhaust residue).

Once the Viper was complete we started on the SRT8 Charger, what a car!! This car had customer interior, stereo, paint, wheel, and a supercharger being installed. We split the car in half and washed, then dried. The sun peaked out and I could see that we would be in for a challenge. The paint work was fairly soft, but the body shop marred it pretty bad when washing. It was our job to make the car as swirl free as possible and rid the paint of the nasty swirl marks.

I started out by doing a test spot. I knew what I thought would remove the marks, so I started one step lower in terms of aggressiveness—nope didn’t work. I then went straight to my ole standby—Hi Temp extreme cut/optimum polish, this worked beautifully. I polished with my rotary polisher, while Tony chased me with the PC and blackfire (Menzerna) finishing polish. We then sealed the paint with Wolfgang deep gloss sealant, dressed the tires with Meguiars all-season dressing, and cleaned the glass with Eagle One 20/20. As Tony was polishing the last section of the Charger, I polished the motorcycle (no pics).

Looks great man, the turn-around on that Charger was great. Stupid shops.

Question, why did you choose Meg's Hyper Dressing for the BMW and All-Season for the rest?

Excellent work on all as usual. :)

Nice having a competent helper, isn't it? Once you get your routine down you can really save a lot of time and end up getting more done each day.

I find that different brands of tires respond differently to dressings--some like water based, others like solvent based. I knew that the Michelins would like either, so I used water based. The other two tires IME, seem to respond better to solvent based products, they almost "repel" water based dressings.

Might I ask what you use?

I used a product that I purchase locally called "magnum." It's about $32.00 for five gallons and I dilute it 10:1. :D

These are the only other shots that I have of the charger, there are more of the M3 in another thread in this forum--I will try and find the link later.

Daayymm, thats one HOT trio of cars there. The SRT8 looks very deep and wet, while the other two have a very nice glow. Great job!

Outstanding work! #21 really looks great on the BMW. What made you switch to Wolfgang on the second two cars?

And they hyperdressing sure does look good... glossy, black, and very fresh looking.

No reason--I do the Viper all the time and always try to put somehting different on it. I really just hadn't used WG in a while--forgot how much I liked it.

Sorry, I can't remember the name of the blue, perhaps a BMW enthusiast will see this and know.

Thanks guys!!
