M105/m205

Does anyone else find it difficult to use the correct amount of product when polishing with M105/M205? It seems like I could use 15 pads when polishing my truck as the product gums up really bad, and I am trying not to use too much polish. Im about to throw these two bottles t:hairpull

The 205 on LC Tang HydroTechs works like a dream for me. I have never noticed any issues or problems with it. It's the 105 I feel like throwing sometimes. :chuckle:

I have issues with the 105 running dry. I have read on here that it has a 1 minute work time and when shooting for 3 passes, I'm not even half done by then. I pick up my polisher and there is wet polish left behind so I have until now assumed that it was just working on the face of the pad. I keep beating the hell out of LC HydroTechs so I am gonna have to fiure something out soon.

It's getting a bit costly.

Can you go into a little more detail? I always do what I think is a prime, but it's really just smearing polish all over the face of the pad and pressing it in a little.

That's about it, just be sure to cover the entire pad.

No biggies.... :)

It's a great article it will find its way to you one way or another..

I've never seen any article on priming more comprehensive than that one... TH0001 is really the detailing scholar... He can both polish and elaborate...Whoever said 'those who can do, those who can't do teach' never knew Todd Helme

There's a very comprehensive and detailed article by th0001 in TID... It's got all info on priming (why, how, how much to use,etc)...Not only that this article also explain how to finish flawlessly with M105 as well...That's right M105 not a typo....Haven't tried this myself but it's very intriguing...

That was a good read. But now what am I supposed to do with my 205?

Just because a few people are finishing out with M105, I dunno if that means we'll all be doing it that way. And there are situations where you don't need the added cut of M105 anyhow.

It was a great article and I'm surprised you didn't get that you could vary the cutting power by different pads and work times. I've started using M105 as a 1 step on all the details I do where the customer needs a "a bit of correction" but doesn't want to spend $$ for the extra gloss another step like 85rd would add. I have a bunch of polishes sitting on the shelf now.

I used M205 for the first time yesterday and was very pleased with how well and how easy it was to work with.

I had primed the Sonus Orange (swirl remover) pad that I had and let it sit for about 30 minutes. At first I thought the M205 was a bit too watery but it wound up being perfect. The hairline scratches that I was attempting to remove came out without issue, and the resulting finish after wipedown looked like I could have stopped without sealing...but of course I followed up with BFWD Polish and Sealant for a spectacular finish.

No dusting, super easy to apply and great results. Think I'll ditch some of my other product experiments as this one was a success.

I did the M105 cutting-then-finishing combo on two spot repairs I did on the A8 yesterday...still followed with a quick pass using 1Z HG though.
