Low temperature and detailing.

Hi Gang,

I live in Central Pa. and was wondering if I could have some feedback on personal experience with claying, polishing, sealing, waxing indoors in low temps. I have a garage that is not heated, but at least the wind is not a factor. What would be the lowest temp I could work in and have the materials and surface be acceptable? Let's assume i would start out with the materials warm (they are stored in the house). Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Man:

Snake told me that he has put Klasse on at about 45 degrees without a problem....I haven't tried it at that temp yet.....I would rather do it at least 50 degrees, which I was also told would be quite adequate. The other members may have a different opinion. Temp obviously has to do with cure times of the wax or sealant you are using. I doubt there are any restrictions on washing in cold weather (as long as the water doesn't freeze on you!!). GOOD LUCK

Also, if it is a bit cold, you can park you car in the sun for a while which will heat up the car to above the atmospheric temperature, then drive it into the garage and do your thing....would be better though to leave it in the sun when it is cold so the surface will stay warm enough to allow curing. Try a search too, I think I tried it one time also, don't remember how much info I got on the topic.
