Lotus Exige paint feedback needed

Can anyone who owns or has a good deal of experience give me some feedback on the quality of the OEM paint?



My friend purchased an orange '06 Exige S sight unseen and it showed up this evening. Right away I could tell the nose had been painted. It's dull from lack of proper finishing after paint work and the pearl is not nearly a match to the rest of the car



I went over the rest of it and here is my concern. Orange peel is consistent so my initial impression is all is Good on the rest of the car , however as I really look closer I see a good bit of dirt in the paint, areas that appear to have drying overspray around body lines etc. I'm having a difficult time determining if these defects mentioned are just poor quality control from the factory or if this car has seen two paint events instead of just one.



Anyone with an Exige or lots of experience that can tell me if these defects are the norm for lots paint or if thre's more to be worried about with this car?



...again orange peel is consistent over the rest of the car, I see no obvious signs of a repaint in the seams or jambs but the dirt in the paint and a couple spots makes me very curious

From what you offer, it would appear that there has been at least two spot repairs done on the vehicle.

With new taping products it is easy to not produce tape lines in door jams ,etc.

While a spot or two of dust may be visable on a vehicle that has not been refinished, your description of the dry overspray etc plus excess dirt nibs, sure does sound like it has had some real work done on it.(and very poor quality at that)
