Lost a good one out there today...

I use MF towels for everything and it seems like I tend to go through them quite a bit...it would be nice if there were a local retail chain that carried them. Anyone know if there is?

Sure, they have become very common. The issue seems to be quality. Most auto parts store carry a thinner towel than you might find as some of the better web sites. The reason is that the average person is not going to spend $10 or $12 for a towel because they don't understand the value.

Most of MF towels that you can buy a chain stores are far to rough to use on paint. If you want to use them for dirty jobs like door jambs, or wheels they might be O.K., but I would never use them on paint.

Many stores sell MF towels, they are not very good quality, but they have them.

WalMart

Costco

Target

Pepboys

Target has a combo pack (2 regular MF towels - maybe 8"x8" and a glass cleaning MF) for about $8-10 I think. They've worked fine for me but I haven't compared them to the towels I got from Classic Mot. yet.

I second neatitems.com towels... I just got some, and they are very nice. Of course, these are the only MF's I've ever had but still, very nice. YoSteve.com also sells quality towels for good price.

Just got my neatitem towels yesterday. I am happy with them. I compared them with the others that I have (nicsand, viking, costco, excello) and I think they are very plush.

I do think that for a store-bought MF towel, I found the Excello Product to be a very good MF towel. It's very plush (like neatitem and much better plusher than nicsand), large size (16 x 24), cheap ( 2 for $9.99 plus if you have a coupon, it is even lower), and best of all, readily available. I found mine at Bed, Bath and Beyond - there were 2 colors there...white and beige. I got the white although I might go back and get some beige ones to compare. They are branded as Kitchen Millenium but is distributed by Excello ( Chicago ). I cut off the tag a while back but I think they were made in Korea.

I am still waiting for Yosteve's towels. I think they are shipping this Saturday. Hey Steve, YGM on your Yahoo account. I'd like to compare Steve's with these towels plus the Miracle towel from CMA which I hope to get next week with the Blackfire.

I have a couple NicSand MF's, and I dont really like them. I think they're jsut plain hard to use, they dont want to stay in place, they want to roll around under your hand, and they're pretty thin. Plus, I took them out of the pack and tried cleaning my already pretty clean windows with them and they left fibers liek crazy, but I guess not washing them first makes a difference. I think I'll stick with terry cloth for now :bounce

I wrote a lengthy review of the Nicsand microfiber towels over a year ago. To make a long story short, I really did not like those towels. Good for the interior but I just don't like them at all to use them on my car's paint. Laters.

As mentioned before $8-10 for a 3 pack, 2 for general cleaning and one glass cloth.

I won't let these towels touch paint. I keep them for interior dusting and such.

The glass towel is a bit to hard to use on windows even when I cleaned them previously with a terry cloth and EF clear vision.

I would trust CMA's, Tim's, Steve's, and neatitems towels for paint.

I really enjoyed using the backing plate from the lc window polishing kit on the pc with the adapter, I don't think it enjoyed our time together as much as I did however.
