Looking For Successful Winter Promotion Ideas

I was wondering if anyone has come up with some successful Winter promotions/advertizing that has produced some substantial results using Direct Mail, Telemarketing, Constant Contact Email, Social Media, Gift Cards, Gift Certificates, etc.???

Looking for some ideas for special holidays such as Valentine's Day, Easter, Winterizing Your Car promotion, etc. Would appreciate any feed back or examples of promotions run.

I'm also curious if anyone has had any success promoting other ad-on services such as Headlight Restoration, Odor Removal, Interior Scotchgaurding, etc. along with your regular Detailing Specials.

Thank you

What kind of climate are you in ? If your winter is anything like mine (cold, snowy, dark), then good luck getting even half as busy as you are in the summer.

My advice is to get your name out with what ever is cost effective and upsell on the products you stated.

We live in good ol sunny Southern California. Fortunately we don't have the ice and snow that you folks have to deal with! If anything we have an occasional rain storm for a few days at a time. It seems that this time of year there is a lot of apprehension for people to either spend or think about getting their cars detailed. Maybe it's in part of just coming off a spending spree from the Holidays, or people are thinking of the upcoming tax season or maybe it's just the stigma of the quote unquote Winter season that unmotivates individuals to getting their cars clean. I have been in the mobile detailing business for 26 years now and year after year between January and April business drops dramatically. This is why I'm looking for some feed back on this forum to see if anyone has come up with some ideas on promoting their services this time of year.

We are installing a two post lift to allow cleaning of undercarriages. This should generate a lot of business from the exotic car crowd who want that grime off the underside of their cars.

Another thing that could help get your promotions out is forming an e-mail list and periodically sending out specials to prior clients as well as prospects. Doesn't cost anything either.

Marketing is a year round activity. Obviously, you want to specifically mention the seasonal changes as part of your marketing. Maybe send an email newsletter with a seasonal specific article on the benefits of detailing. You can also send reminder postcards to your customer list that correlate with the seasons. The point is to keep your company on the minds of your customers, even when it is winter.

Mass e-mail advertising is a great method of marketing. Not free per say (still takes time to do), but definitely a good way to market your business.

I would not say mass email is a good marketing tool, compared to targeted emailing to your customer and prospect list. Mass emailing reaches lots of people who could care less about an auto detailing service. Targeted emails reach the people who have already purchased or have shown interest in purchasing auto detailing services.
