Looking for local 3M distributor

Please don't crosspost. Your post in Autopia University has been deleted.

To answer your question, try checking body shop/paint supply stores in your area for 3M products. Here's a link to a US West yellow pages search for stores in and near Dallas: http://tinyurl.com/56dk6

Good luck!

Did that already, that's why I'm asking here. Sorry about the crosspost, I just didn't know where to post to get the most exposure.

compounds and polishes. Thanks for that link Elliott, I was trying to find something like that on their site, but couldn't quite get there. Based on that tool, I've found several local places.

For light to med webbing scratching/light oxidation I was planning on 05933 RC. The Menz IP that i used via PC on 6 w/LC yellow pad didn't remove enough of the micromarring. So instead of #83 DACP, I've decided to try 05933.

Thanks for your help.

3M PI III RC is a very good product, I think you'll like it. You may want to follow that up with PI III MG (machine glaze #05937), it will leave a very nice finish.

Good Luck!

Good Luck!

So would you use the MG in addition to the Menz IP & FP, say between the RC and IP, or would you recommend replacing the IP with the MG??

BTW, what's a fair price for a 32oz RC?? I think I may have gotten fleeced by my local distributor. Also what speed do you recommend on a PC to apply the RC??

Thanks again,

Michael

You should only have to use RC and MG, no need for IP and FP if you've got this 3M combo.

As far as price the 3M does run a bit higher, I haven't priced it locally (got mine in a 3M combo deal at a car show), but here is one on-line vendor selling it:

I use the RC about like most polishes, start out a bit slower (3) to spread it and then step up to 5 or 6 to work it well.

Well based on the products I bought last Saturday at my local distributor, I can say with certainty that I definitely got fleeced. i paid significantly more for all 3 products I bought. Looks like I'll have to limit my "got have it today" spending, and just order off the Net from now on.

Well if I didn't already have the IP/FP combo, I'd be inclined to try it, but I've been very happy with the Menz twins so far. I've just had a couple applications where the IP didn't have quite enough bite, so I was looking for something to complement what I had, instead of replacing. But I'm always up for trying new product!!

Thanks again for all your help,

Michael

You can go online and buy everything. I don't know the site off hand but try 3M.com or keyword 3M and you shoiuld get there. Their delivery time is short & sweet.

IP is more abrasive than MG. The four products mentioned in this thread ranked from most abrasive to least:

3M Perfect It III Rubbing Compound

Menzerna IP

3M Perfect It III Machine Glaze

Menzerna FP

I use and like all four.
