Looking for INDOOR Self Serve Car Wash - Pa/NJ/Del area

I doubt I will find one but figured it could not hurt to ask here.

Does anybody know where there is a DIY Car Wash that has doors on it so you are not in the elements?

I think this would be a great business, I know I would use it often during the winter months. I would not even mind paying extra for heat.

I do have a garage and in dire times I will usually usually just go the quarter wash and rinse it and then come home and do a ONR wash in the garage but it is a pain in the butt especially since I need to pull my Corvette out and put the DD in to wash it. I also have a high ceiling so it is hard to get it very warm in there without running my torpedo heater which stinks and is super loud.

Just curious if anybody has come across anyplace like this.

There aren't self serve washes like this any more in the US. I was part of an indoor Do-It-Yourself car wash in Redford, MI and from what I gather it was the 1st and only one in existence in the US. It was called "Poly Pro". It was an abandandoned bowling allley that was retrofitted with 13 touchless self serve bays and with an onsite detail shop that I owned. The entere wash was climate controlled and made for an ideal place both in winter and summer. They gave you free tire dressing/tire cleaner/APC/glass cleaner/towels/vacuum/compressed air/air freshener. They charged 25 cents per minute and were lined up around the block.

I've been told that in Canada there are Coin-Op washes that are equipped with overhead doors to protect you from the elements. Not quite the same concept though.

There was a place in Plymouth, MN that had multiple DIY bays equipped like a regular coin op set up. You would drive in the middle of a large building, much like a dealers service area, and all the bays were on the left or right. The automatic door would give you a ticket like a parking ramp and the attendant would charge you for the time when you left. It was pretty slick.

It is closed now for whatever reason, but probably because not many people use car washes in the summer.

I loved that place because you didn't feel rushed by people waiting for your bay and I could do a good, thorough wash.

Good luck in your search!

Randy

I think most, if not all the coin-opp car washes in MN have doors and some form of heat. The doors are left open until it gets cold out and then they are on timers to close like 30-45 seconds after they were opened.

I can't recall seeing one without doors anyway....
