Looking for a Trailer

Here's the deal. I've upgraded over the last 2 years from using a Mazda 3 4 door sedan to using my 4 dr Jeep Wrangler as my detailing vehicle/daily driver. Buying a car/van/truck just for detailing is out of the question because I'm in grad school. I have the towing package with the jeep so I'm thinking about going the route of a trailer, possibly something in the smaller area like an 8 foot trailer which would hold all my supplies very comfortably and allow me to add more options to my arsenal such as hot water extractor (I have a friend who is selling me a large extractor at a steel!) My question is, what am I'm looking to possibly spend for one of these or what are your setups looking like. Thanks guys!

I'll have to give my brother a call tomorrow to see what he pays for his trailers (he has a lawn care business).

Do search for 3LG (3 Layers Gloss). He has his trailer build in his sig and maybe he could let you know. His is definitely top notch but a might give you an idea of a ceiling price.

Dang Labster, it's too bad you weren't looking for a trailer 6 months ago. That's about when I sold mine. I had a 5x10 enclosed trailer with double swing out doors on the back and 1 swing out door on the side. Here are some pics: z_Truck and Trailer pictures by DrivenAutoDetail - Photobucket

If I remember correctly, I paid about $2K for mine.

*My contact info isn't blurred out in those pics. I'm hoping that since I linked to the pics instead of posting them here it's alright.

That's nice. Was it fully equipped inside? Why did you end up selling it?

MachB5-

Yes, I was fully-equipped. I had a 90-gal. water tank, 3800w Honda generator, and then the rest of my equipment, tools, and products. I got rid of it because I decided that I wanted to operate a fixed location business. I thought I could get by with being mobile, but with Indiana weather, it just wasn't working. I'm getting ready to move into a facility around the 1st of March (recovering from back surgery right now).

Gotcha. I'm doing it reverse and I too wish I had found your trailer 6 months ago. Thanks for sharing and best wishes with your back and new location!

So are you going from fixed to mobile?

Just so you have something to go off of, I purchased my trailer for right at $2K. Hope that helps as you look for one.

Thanks. I'm gonna go looking around in the next month or so. We'll see what happens. With business being what its been lately it's a worthwhile investment. Since I'm in grad school right now and hopefully getting into a PhD program in the next year or so I'm not thinking too far down the road.

Not totally. I'm going to be adding a more mobile service with a m obile trailer to my existing fixed location. Currently I just use my 05 xterra but I want to be more self relient when I show up at a site.

Labster,

Keep an eye on Craigslist...there are trailers that come and go on there from landscape companies that went out of business. Some have been a steel! If your in grad school and going into the PhD program...how are you going to find time to detail??

I've been detailing myself through my collegiate career. lol

I pull a 4x6 enclosed and it fits all of my equipment and all just fine with room to build shelves. I will take some pics and post them tomorrow. I did some bartering for mine. A client of mine had it and was asking $750 for it and I told him I was interested and he said take it. I worked it off in details. It retails for $1400.
