looking for a sealant or wax

I'm looking for a sealant or wax that is easy to apply and remove. I'm seeking a product that protects well against the elements. Does anyone have a recommendation.

I was straying more towards a sealant due to the durability but my car's are parked outside 24. So any recommendations for a sealant or wax would be appreciated.

Well, there are hundreds one could chose from. If you're just trying to keep it simple, look at Collinite's Insulator Wax #845. One $15 bottle will last the average guy quite a while. You'll need a pre-step to get the surface ready.

(You've shared 0 information about what you're working on and what your skill level is and what you may already own as far as chems and other products/tools. You may want to "fill in the blanks" and get a more specific recommendation.)

Welcome aboard!

Duragloss #501 and #105,inexpensive ,durable ,great shine!(I know I sound like a commercial! but it's true).

Colinite 845 is also very good.

Klasse .

Optimum car wax or duragloss aquawax...spray, WO/WO no haze. Do after every wash and you'll be fine, though not up to many autopians rigid standards

How long does the collonite 845 last?

A few layes of it will usually last a few months...it's hard to predict as a) conditions make a big difference and b) on rare occasions 845 doesn't last as long as it normally does (never have figured out why). It's my #2 choice in this case.

My #1 choice, the Collinite 476S paste wax, *will* last for months, even on outside 24/7 vehicles. With all the products I have on the shelf (including a scad of sealants), it's my #1 choice for applications like this. It's not that tough on/off IMO and its durability and protection against environmental hazards (e.g., bird bombs) are so great that I'd say it's worth the additional effort.

I used 476S on the Volvo wagon I used to have, and it sat outside year-round..no problems at all, hardly ever had to rewax it.

There are so many choices and opinions that it will make your head spin. "Generally" speaking a sealant will last longer than most carnubas especially if the car is outdoors.

I think most will agree the Zaino products are amoung the most durable and are designed for hand application, but are expensive. Duagloss products are also durable, designed for hand application and less expensive.

Wash the car, clay the car then apply:

One coat of ZAIO or a coat of DG 601

One or two coats of Z2 or Z5 or DG105

A coat of ZCS or OptiSeal

Optional---Once a month a coat of DG AquaWax or Optimum Spray Wax (both only take 15 minutes)

It will be simple and easy to do, offer great protection and you will like the results.

Thanks for you guys suggestions and sorry if my question was vague. Wasn't thinking but I was thinking of the combo of Klass AIO topped off with Collinite 845 or 476. What do you guys think?

I'm just looking for something that is durable that can protect the paint in between washes. Due to me and my family park the cars outside 24/7, i think it would be really hard to be able to use a sealant with a long cure time.

The cars that i wash is

camry: silver metallic

highlander: tan color metallic

corolla: super white II

PS(toyo fan lol)

Cure times are not an issue with Sealants for protection, just for adding a second coat. With something like Zaino you would apply a coat of ZAIO, allow to dry (15 minutes) buff off, apply a coat of Z2, allow to dry (again 15 minutes) buff off and you are done. Optionally you could add a coat of ZCS for extra protection. Spray, buff, walk away. The only time cure time is an issue is if you want to add a second or third coat of Z2 then you have to wait 24 hours between coats or add ZFX which shortens cure times to zip.

Oh wow hmm so what the zaino products you state i could be done with my LSP step in a hour or so and be able to park it outside for the night?

You can use either Danase Paint Sealant or Optimum Opti-Seal. Both will give you a nice shine and will last a very long time, and DPS will cure almost instantly.

lilraver018- Parking it outside after doing a sealant shouldn't be a problem.

Collinite over KAIO will work fine, but I'm not sure why you'd use the KAIO in that case instead of something else...I only use KAIO before KSG.

And I'd rather use Collinite for something parked outside, as opposed to a sealant (which I do use on a few of our vehicles, so it's not like I'm against sealants).

Hmm I appreciate the help. I think il'l just order up some Danase Paint Sealant and Collinite. I'll test out the product to see which i like. Thanks Accumulator and bigfoot i and everyone else with the great suggestions. I just have to play around with different products before i find something I'm happy with.

Oh yea can Danase paint sealant be topped with collinite? I think they can be due to collinite doesn't contain any cleaner right. Just wanted a little clarification.

If Collinite does not have any cleaners(I honestly don't know since I haven't used it) yes, you can top DPS with 845. That way you can have a super durable finish that will last a long time.

The Collinite 845 and 476S do *NOT* contain cleaners, so they oughta be fine over most anything. They do have a kinda high solvent content, but I don't *think* that'll be a problem.

I'd let the sealant cure for a while before topping with the Collinite though, just to be on the safe side.
