Looking For a New Vacuum

Beemerboy

Just One More Coat
My shop vac is starting to make a high screeching noise.
Still works OK but its starting to go.I've been a fan of shop vac, but open to
Something new. Suggestions?

Hi Dave,

I'm looking for a quality vacuum that won't break the bank. The one I have is about 25 years old, heavy, and doesn't vacuum like it used to. I've been looking at a compact unit over at Home Depot but I'd like to hear what you guys say.....:bigups

I have 2 Rigids and I am very happy with them. One of the Rigid vac that folds up into a self contained unit. Great suction as well.

Hi Pat,

Which Rigid models do you have?

What ever I end up buying the bottom line is it needs to vacuum thoroughly and cleanly.

Richy has suggested a wet/dry vac that has the lift of a metro but wet/dry - PowerFlite PF51.

I have a Rigid. Dont think they make this 1 anymore. It looks like a toolbox. Works really well. Still have a shop vac, but its to big to haul around for me

It looks nice but is quite small. Wish there were some reviews on it.

I know. I like it because I work out of my Tahoe, and I need all the room I can get. Im glad my big Shop Vac is dying :swirly: Im planning on getting one fairly soon so I'll be sure to do a full review on it :D

Dave,
Give the Ridgid 16 gal with detachable blower a look. I have it and with it's great locking hose system, I drag it around like a rented mule.
Sometimes they go on sale too so the deal is even better.
Model WD1680 i think.

I just got this vac. Sears: Online department store featuring appliances, tools, fitness equipment and more
It is a rebranded Vacmaster. It has a 5 hp motor with 88" of lift IIRC. It sucks! It is very nice. It can be mounted to the wall and taken off easily. The hose that comes with it is 20 ft long and is very soft and flexible so you don't have to buy another hose. It picks up stuff out of carpet with ease and comes with a lot of attachments for the price.

Mine is a 28 plus yr one from Sear's and I'll be looking for one soon. I did use Todd's metro vac once and was very impress with it's power ..

I think that I'm going to get another Shop Vac. Problem is I have a ton of attachments for the one I have.

Had the Metro on my list, but settled for a Ridgid wet/dry 5.0 hp for $89 at Home Depot... small and compact, good vac, but really need to buy the commercial grade hose for it.

I have the same one and love it, as a bonus the blower works decent for frying the car too
