Look at the Dewalt models. Quite quiet compared to some other brands.
I had a Porter Cable setup, the little pancake model. Good unit but limited in it's abilities because of it's small size. Very noisy motor also.
The Dewalt D55168 has been a much better fit for me around the house. 15 gal. tank, wheels, rubber feet, quiet motor and can use up to a 50 ft. 12 ga. extension cord.
So, have a look at the Dewalts and you'll find one in a size that'll work for you. Most of the Dewalts have quiet motors which is good if neighbours are close or kids are sleeping nearby.
