Long throw MF pads recommendations

Picked up a new 15mm toy, and don’t have any MF pads since I’ve only had a flex. I’m looking at either the GG or uro-fiber. While the uro-fiber touts themselves as compound and finishing, I’m really only looking at the compounding aspect.

The toy is just an adams swirl killer, so any “system” approaches can be thrown out the window. Looking for just a general best.

The Griot`s Boss, Meguiar`s and Lake Country (both HDO and standard), Urofiber are all good pads to use. I still lean towards Meguiar`s or Lake Country.

Don`t waste your money on Megs MF cutting pads. Although they cut great, the fibers, foam interface, and hook and loop backing are all poor quality and will degrade 5x faster than LC Microfiber cutting pads or Uro-fiber pads.

I`d highly recommend the latest LC microfiber cutting pads for you simply because they offer as much cut as meguiars but are designed with higher quality materials that stands up to the added heat and abuse of a long-throw polisher.

Uro-fiber is also great but LC MF do cut more.

IMO Uro-fiber & Boss MF are great 1-step pads on harder paints.

+1 on the LC and Uro Fibers. Megs cut and finish the best but they do not last at all. Quality and materials are spotty at best. I was very happy to give up a slightly faster cut and finish for other brands that last 5 times longer. What I do not get with all the complaining about durability and inconsistent quality control Meg`s still has not addressed the issues.

I already had the uro-fiber loaded into the cart so I checked out with those. GG lost because ACC doesn’t carry the 3” microfiber pads. Megs lost because they’re $22/pad, and if I could pocket that cost I wouldn’t have picked up the adams unit. Also threw some carpro gloss pads into the cart to see if they fare better than just a regular LC white pad.

I think you`ll be happy with the Uro-fiber pads. They are my favorite and even my older ones are still in fantastic shape!

The gloss pad is very soft. It is more of a finishing pad than a polishing pad IMO. I only have one in my arsenal (for testing purposes), and thus it hasn`t gotten used much.

According to the information on the ACC store website about the Buff-&-Shine Uro-fiber pad that you can compound, polish, and finish (jewel or burnish) with this one type of pad ,suggesting you keep the pad separate and dedicated for that specific finishing operation. Is this true and do any of Autopians who have this pad use it in this way? Or is it "better" at compounding and removing deeper clear-coat scratches or etching, as I assume a microfiber is suited and designed for??

The Gloss pad sounds good, wonder how it stacks up against Rupes white ??

Great Q! I`ll be interested to hear what people here say. But I`ll also note that plenty of people claim that [whatever combo] works great as a one-step, usually on either hard or light-colored paints, and IME that`s simply never the case for me.

Just now starting to pick up GGs Boss Micro pads.
Been using Carpro Micro pads 2" 3" & 5", which are holding there own and they clean up nice.

Where in the world did you come across this price per pad? Meg`s MF pads are NEVER that expensive per pad nor normally sold at that price per one pad, nor can I find where Meg`s only sells one MF pad at a time......

My bad, I looked again and didn’t see it was for a pair. Though while everybody seems to agree they work well, it seems to be common for them to not last.

ACC has GG 3" MF pads. They are in the Griots brand section under Boss system:
